Need bath repair in Plean?

Bath repair at your home in Plean

Bath repair is our most common job. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all repaired in place, normally in a single visit. Common call-outs are for a hole punched through by something heavy and an old repair that has yellowed or come loose, on roll-top & freestanding, acrylic and pressed steel enamel.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you’re covered after the visit.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Plean

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

Repair or replace in Plean?

Replacing a bath rarely stops at the bath: tiles along the rim normally crack when it comes out, the panel may not fit the new one, and the plumbing has to be disconnected and refitted. Repairing the damage avoids all of that. Our bath repair starts from £95. Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is normally a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Why us?

  • Colour-matched on site
  • No extra charge for your area
  • One visit for most repairs
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK

Plean questions

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Most of the time. Let us know what was used before.

Do I have to be there?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.

Do the materials smell?

Expect a mild smell while we’re working.

Do you cover the entire of Stirling?

We work UK-wide, and that includes Plean. Our prices are the same everywhere.

Can you repair a failed DIY repair?

Regularly. We strip it out, deal with any rust and repair it again.

Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?

In most cases. Send us a picture of the hole and one from under the bath if you can.

Is a bath repair durable?

It should, as long as the bath is firm and the area was prepared well. It’s covered by our one-year guarantee.

Can pets and children be at home?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit. The rest of the house is unaffected.

What a repair can’t fix

Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits too:

  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we cannot get to from below
  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

Materials we work on in Plean

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding

What we’re called out for in Plean

The usual cause is something heavy dropped into the bath, and building work is a common culprit. Cracks in acrylic have a different cause: poor support underneath, so the bath flexes when it’s full.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • A cracked acrylic bath
  • Rusty patches near the plughole
  • Chips under the taps
  • A hole punched through by something heavy

What to look for in a quote

  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • How long it needs to cure
  • What preparation is included

How to compare quotes

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. Prices are worked out job by job, from your photos. What matters most is:

  • Doing more than one item at once
  • How much damage there is
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Send pictures for a quote

You can take the pictures on your phone, there is no need for anything special. Make sure they show:

  • The material, if you know it
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • One picture of the entire bath

We price from pictures so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and you’ll get a fixed figure back.

Repairs by material

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. There is no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

The process

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, do the job and tidy away. Plan for a few hours, depending on the damage. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
  4. We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
  5. Once it has cured, typically by the following day, the bath is ready to use.

Before we arrive

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift

How to look after the repair

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
  • Have new chips seen to early

Keep metal objects like razors and cans off the surface, as they can leave rust marks. And fix dripping taps promptly.

A small chip is a quick job. Leave them and they collect dirt, stain and, on metal baths, rust, so it’s worth getting them done early.
