FAQs for Polgigga

How do I book?

Photos of the damage, a photo of the entire bath and your postcode. Then we will agree a date.

Will there be fumes?

Yes, while we’re applying the finish. Ventilation keeps it down, and it fades as the finish cures.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

We’re happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just make sure the landlord agrees.

Can you re-enamel a roll-top bath?

Yes. Inside and out if you’d like.

Can pets and children be at home?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work and until it has cured. The rest of the house is unaffected.

How long is the bath unusable?

Typically one day, with the bath ready the day after. A badly pitted bath can need a second day.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Just add the extra items to your photos and you will get one combined price.

Do you cover the entire of Cornwall?

Across the UK, and that includes Polgigga. Our prices are the same everywhere.

About our bath re-enamelling in Polgigga

We re-enamel plenty of period and roll-top baths, which would be difficult and expensive to replace. Resurfacing them in place keeps the original bath. We’re frequently asked to fix a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean and a coloured bath you want in white, across acrylic baths, cast iron baths and pressed steel baths.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re covered after the visit.

Keeping it looking good

Looking after the surface is easy:

  • Respect the curing time we give you
  • Never use suction bath mats
  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath

Wipe the bath dry after use where you can, and rinse away any product left on the surface.

Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Resurfacing from £350. You’ll know the full cost before you book. We look at:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • What the surface is made of
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Access to the area

We charge the same wherever you are, so there’s no premium for Polgigga. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Send pictures for a quote

You can normally get a fixed quote without us visiting. To help us price it:

  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them over with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote. There is no charge for the quote and you are under no obligation.

Repair or replace in Polgigga?

A replacement frequently means several trades over several days. Re-enamelling is one technician, generally one day, and the bath is usable the day after. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Why us?

  • No extra charge for your area
  • Technicians who travel to you, UK-wide
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • Everything repaired in place

Honest limits

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • A bath that’s rusted through
  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • A bath split right through the body

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths

Landlords, agents and businesses in Polgigga

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, pictures and access details and we’ll arrange it.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we check it carefully.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

How it works

Once we are through the door, we keep the work contained to the one room. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the work takes a full day, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
  4. Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
  5. Once cured, normally by the following day, the bath is ready.

How to prepare

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

How to get a price

We price from photos so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through.
