About our bath repair in Port Clarence

We repair enamelled steel, cast iron and acrylic baths. Each material is repaired a little differently: rust is treated on metal baths, while cracks in acrylic are reinforced from underneath. If you are dealing with a kit repair that didn’t last and damage done while the bathroom was being fitted, we can typically put it right, whatever the material.

You’re covered after we leave: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

DIY kit or professional repair?

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.

Port Clarence: your questions answered

Is there a guarantee?

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

Can you repair a failed DIY repair?

Yes, we do this frequently. We strip it out, deal with any rust and repair it again.

Is there a call-out fee?

No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.

What do you need from me?

Photos of the damage, a picture of the entire bath and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Will there be a smell?

There may be a mild smell during the work that clears as it cures.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit usually costs less than separate visits. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

The process

We agree an arrival time beforehand, so you’re not left guessing. Once we are there, the work takes a few hours, depending on the damage in most cases. We leave the room clean.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the next day.

How to prepare

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Clear the area around the damage

Ask for a price

For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

Advice

Honest limits

A repair is not right for every job, including:

  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath
  • Metal that has corroded all the way through

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

What we work on

  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel

Repairs by material

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, finished with fired enamel. Chips can rust if left, but the bath itself lasts for generations, so it’s always worth repairing.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

How to look after the repair

Looking after the surface is easy:

  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
  • Don’t leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • Ensure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Put a towel in the bath if you are working above it

Treat the repaired area like the rest of the bath: warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft cloth. Keep scouring pads and gritty cleaners away from it.

Tape over a fresh chip or crack until it’s repaired, to keep water out. Remove it before the repair.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. There is no charge for travel to Port Clarence. The price depends on:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The colour and finish to match
  • How much damage there is
  • The type of damage

We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Port Clarence. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Getting a price from pictures

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Please include:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Details of any past repairs
  • A picture taken from further back

There is no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.

Repair or replace: which is better?

A new bath costs more than the bath itself: taking out the old one, plumbing, tiling, a panel and redecorating. A repair is one job, done in one visit. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. We do not add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

What you get with us

  • No need to remove anything
  • Usually one visit, start to finish
  • Same prices wherever you are
  • Straight answers about what a repair can do

Read our prices page and guide to resurfacing and replacement costs.

When to call us in Port Clarence

Dropped items cause the majority of chips, and a lot happen during bathroom refits. Cracks in acrylic have a different cause: poor support underneath, so the bath flexes when it’s full.

Common reasons people in Port Clarence contact us are:

  • Rust by the waste and overflow
  • Damage beneath the taps
  • Snagging damage from a refit
  • Chips along the edge of the bath

Questions to ask before you book

  • How your room will be protected
  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • How soon you can use it again
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the pictures show
