Bath repair in Porthmadog

How we handle bath repair in Porthmadog

You do not need a new bath because of a chip. Our repair technicians fill, shape and refinish the damage, with the colour mixed on site so the repair is hard to spot. We are often asked to fix a cracked acrylic bath and holes from dropped items, in roll-top & freestanding, pressed steel enamel and acrylic.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we will come back.

When to call us in Porthmadog

Rust typically starts where water sits, by the plughole, beneath dripping taps or in an unrepaired chip. Water on bare metal causes rust that creeps under the surrounding enamel.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
  • Chips along the edge of the bath
  • Impact holes in acrylic
  • Snagging damage from a refit

Choosing a repair company

How it works

There is not much you need to do on the day. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we’ll take it from there. The job generally runs to a few hours, including clearing up.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

How to prepare

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

Repair or replace: which is better?

A new bath brings a chain of other jobs: tiles along the rim generally crack when it comes out, a new panel is frequently needed, and the plumbing has to be disconnected and refitted. Repairing the damage avoids all of that. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access.

What you get with us

  • Everything repaired in place
  • No extra charge for your area
  • We leave the room as we found it
  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. There is no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, just like other baths.

How to care for the repair

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Don’t leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby
  • Do not scrub with anything abrasive

For the first few days, keep heavy bottles off the repaired spot. After that, normal gentle cleaning is fine without abrasive products.

A small chip is a quick job. Leave them and they collect dirt, stain and, on metal baths, rust, so it’s worth getting them done early.

What affects the price in Porthmadog

Prices start from £95. You will know the full cost before you book. We take into account:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Access to the area

There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Quotes from your pictures

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Try to send:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them over with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price. Quotes are free and no obligation.

Your questions about bath repair in Porthmadog

What happens after I send photos?

We come back with a fixed price, usually with dates to choose from. You are under no obligation.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged before the end of a tenancy.

Do you cover the whole of Gwynedd?

We work UK-wide, so Porthmadog is covered. Prices do not change with location.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.

Will the price change on the day?

Your quote covers the damage in the photos. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

How long does the repair take to cure?

Normally by the following day, depending on the repair.

Do the materials smell?

A little, depending on the job. Open windows and an extractor fan help, and it soon fades.

I tried a repair kit. Can you fix it?

Regularly. We strip it out, deal with any rust and repair it again.
