Bath repair in Prendergast without replacing anything
We see every kind of bath damage: chips from dropped bottles, rust round the plughole, cracks in acrylic and holes from falling tools. Each is repaired in place. We work on pressed steel enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and acrylic, and the jobs we see most are chips on the rim or sides and chips caused by builders.
You are covered after we leave: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we explain what it covers before booking.

Different materials, different repairs
Composite and resin
Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, just like other baths.
Cast iron
Cast iron is heavy and rigid, finished with fired enamel. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the bath itself lasts for generations, so it’s always worth repairing.
Can I fix it myself?
Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.
If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.
How it works
We begin by going over the job with you, so there are no surprises. After that, protection goes down around the work area and we start. It normally takes a few hours.
- We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
- The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
- We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
- We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
- We leave it to cure; you can typically use the bath the day after.
Before we arrive
- Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
- Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
- Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
How to get a price
Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, include your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.
Advice
Why repair rather than replace?
A new bath brings a chain of other jobs: the tiles sitting on the rim tend to break, the panel may not fit the new one, and a plumber has to disconnect and reconnect everything. Repairing the damage avoids all of that. Our bath repair starts from £95. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send photos and you’ll get a fixed figure.

When we would advise against a repair
Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, for example:
- Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
- Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
- Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

How to care for the repair
Simple care helps the repair last. We recommend:
- Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
- Ensure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
- Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
- Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
Look after the repair the same way as the bath: warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft cloth. Keep scouring pads and gritty cleaners away from it.
A chip on a metal bath shouldn’t be left. Water gets to the metal and rust starts, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.
