Bath repair for Redmarshall homes

How we handle bath repair in Redmarshall

Chips, cracks, rust spots and small holes is repaired in place. There is no plumbing to disconnect, your tiles stay as they are, and the repaired area is colour-matched so it blends in. We work on cast iron enamel, pressed steel enamel and whirlpool & spa baths, and people most frequently call us about a hole punched through by something heavy and rusty patches near the plughole.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • The material and finish
  • The colour and finish to match
  • How many areas need work
  • What kind of damage it is

No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Send photos for a quote

Most quotes are done from photos alone. To help us price it:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Details of any past repairs

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them over with your postcode, and you will get a fixed price back. Quotes are free and you’re under no obligation.

The process

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and start once you’re happy with the plan. Most jobs take a morning or an afternoon, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. Once it has cured, typically by the day after, the bath is ready to use.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

Common questions in Redmarshall

Do you cover Redmarshall?

Yes. We cover the whole UK and come to Redmarshall and the rest of County Durham. Send photos and we will quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Do you hold any accreditations?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Will it make a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.

Can you fix rust around the plughole?

Yes. We take out the rust and any loose enamel, seal and fill the area, then colour-match the finish.

Do the materials smell?

There can be some smell while we work, which is why we ventilate. It clears as the materials cure.

Is a cracked acrylic bath repairable?

Most of the time. We reinforce the crack from behind, then fill and refinish the front, so access behind the panel is important.

Will the price change on the day?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. You decide whether to go ahead.

How do I book?

Photos of the damage, a picture of the whole bath and your postcode. Then we will agree a date.

Why repair rather than replace?

A new bath costs more than the bath itself: removal and disposal, plumbing, a new panel, tiling and decorating. With a repair, it’s one visit and one price. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Instead of hourly rates, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access.

What your bath is made of matters

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. There is no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, finished with fired enamel. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the bath itself lasts for generations, which makes it well worth repairing.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

When we would advise against a repair

It helps to know what we cannot do too:

  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below
  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
  • Metal that has corroded all the way through

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

Aftercare tips

To keep it looking its best for years:

  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Rinse it down after each bath
  • Store metal items away from the bath
  • Get any new chip repaired before it rusts

Look after the repair the same way as the bath: warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft cloth. Avoid scourers and gritty cream cleaners.

Avoid standing in a cracked acrylic bath until it’s fixed. Every use opens the crack a little more, and it can start to leak underneath.
