Need bath repair in River?

Bath repair in River without replacing anything

We repair enamelled steel, cast iron and acrylic baths. Each material is repaired a little differently: metal baths need any rust dealt with first, and acrylic cracks need support from behind. We’re frequently asked to fix a kit repair that didn’t last and snagging damage from a refit, on roll-top & freestanding, cast iron enamel and acrylic.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there’s a problem and we’ll come back.

Landlord and trade work in River

Hospitality businesses can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We can work around your bookings.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. There is no area surcharge for River. The price reflects:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How much damage there is
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • What the surface is made of

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. You will see the full price before you book, with no extras added later.

Quotes from your pictures

The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what helps:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • One picture of the entire bath
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates

Most clients in River get their price from photos. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.

River questions

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Just keep them out of the work area. We’ll tell you when the room can be used again.

Are there extra charges for River?

Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?

Typically. Photos of the hole and the underside help us check.

Is there a guarantee?

All our work carries a one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.

Will the repair show?

On a bath in good condition, a colour-matched repair is very hard to spot. On older, dull enamel the repair can look glossier than the area around it.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Usually, yes. We remove the old repair before doing a new one.

Can you redo an old repair?

Yes. We take out the old repair and do it properly. Tell us about it when you send photos.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

Why repair rather than replace?

When the bath is otherwise sound, repairing beats replacing. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and you keep the bath you chose. Where the whole surface is tired, we may suggest re-enamelling instead. Our bath repair starts from £95. A repair typically costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send photos and we will give you the exact figure.

What we’re called out for in River

Heavy toiletries are the biggest single cause of chips, with dropped shower heads close behind. Fittings cause damage too: water collects there, so chips nearby rust quickly.

People usually call us after spotting something like this:

  • A cracked acrylic bath
  • Rusty patches near the plughole
  • Chips on the rim or sides
  • An old repair that has yellowed or come loose

What your quote should include

  • Who will actually do the work
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the pictures show
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers

Our hiring checklist

How the visit works

On the day itself, there is little for you to do. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we’ll take it from there. The job generally runs to a few hours, including clearing up.

  1. First, we check the damage against your photos and agree the plan.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

How to prepare

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift

Advice

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Exposed steel rusts fast, particularly by the plughole, so early repairs matter.

When a repair is not the answer

A repair isn’t always the answer, and we’d rather say so up front. We can’t fix:

  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before booking.

What we work on

  • Acrylic
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding

Can I fix it myself?

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.
