Our bath repair service in GU28

Whatever has happened to the bath, we aim for the same result: a smooth, solid repair that blends in. Proper preparation, careful filling and shaping, then colour and gloss matching so it sits flush with the rest of the bath. We regularly repair pressed steel enamel, roll-top & freestanding and acrylic, and people most frequently call us about cracks in an acrylic bath and a kit repair that didn’t last.

When we visit, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job usually takes a few hours. We tidy up before we leave and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the next day.

Getting a price

For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

What’s near Petworth

In Petworth, that means homes near The Old Square Tavern, Petworth Cof E Primary School and Sacred Heart Church and the streets around them. Petworth’s nearest station is Pulborough station, roughly 4.4 miles south-east of the centre. Well-known places in the area include Coates Castle (2.6 miles south) and Coultershaw Heritage Site (1.2 miles south). Not far away are The Mens.

Landlords, agents and businesses in GU28

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Hospitality businesses can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

Should you replace it?

Swapping a damaged bath for a new one typically means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, making good the tiles and panel and disposing of the old one. Repairing it deals only with the damage in a single visit.

What your quote should include

  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • How soon you can use it again
  • How your room will be protected
  • How to look after the finish

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is what we repair.

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

When a repair is not the answer

In fairness, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:

  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)

Questions from GU28

Will you leave a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.

What happens after I send photos?

We look at the pictures and reply with a fixed quote and some dates. If we need another angle, we’ll ask.

Can you repair a hole in a bath?

Usually. Send us a picture of the hole and one from under the bath if you can.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit. The rest of the house is unaffected.

Can you repair a failed DIY repair?

Yes. We remove the old filler and start again. Tell us about it when you send pictures.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

Which areas do you work in?

We cover the whole UK, including GU28 and the rest of West Sussex. Send your postcode with your photos and we’ll offer you dates.
