Need bath repair in Riverside?

The process

We turn up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and looks over the damage before anything else. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before we open a single tin. Most visits take two to three hours for most chips, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased, and any rust is treated.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the following day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

Advice

About our bath repair in Riverside

It pays to repair bath damage while it’s small. On steel and cast iron, exposed metal starts to rust, and on acrylic, a crack keeps spreading while the bath flexes. Repairing it stops the damage getting worse. Whether it’s a chip where the taps sit and chips on the rim or sides, we can generally put it right, on acrylic, pressed steel enamel and cast iron enamel alike.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Usually, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a fitted bath normally means a plumber, removing the old bath, re-tiling and a new panel and disposing of the old one. Repairing it deals only with the damage in one visit. Prices start from £95. Set against the cost of replacement, repairing usually costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, finished with fired enamel. Chips can rust if left, but the bath itself lasts for generations, which makes it well worth repairing.

Looking after it afterwards

To keep it looking its best for years:

  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating

Do not leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, as they can leave rust marks. And fix dripping taps promptly.

Rust spreads under enamel faster than most people expect. Left for months, a small chip can grow into a large rust patch, so it pays to deal with it early.

For landlords and businesses

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access and we’ll arrange it.

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

When we’d advise against a repair

Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits too:

  • Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before you book.

What we work on

  • Acrylic
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel

DIY repairs versus a professional job

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.
