How to care for the repair
A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:
- Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
- Rinse it down after each bath
- Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
- Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before using the bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.
A small chip is a quick job. Leave them and they collect dirt, stain and, on metal baths, rust, so early repair saves time and money.
Work for landlords and builders
Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, so there is no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. We can visit several plots in one trip to keep costs down.
We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover so nothing needs replacing. We’re CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.
How it works
On the day itself, there is little for you to do. Let us in and show us the room, and we’ll take it from there. The job generally runs to a few hours, including clearing up.
- We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
- We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
- The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
- Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
- We leave it to cure; you can normally use the bath the day after.
Before we arrive
- Make sure the area is dry
- Point us to the nearest place to park
- Let us know which floor the room is on

Common questions in Rough Common
Can tenants book a repair?
We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Get your landlord’s agreement first.
Do you charge for travel?
There is no separate call-out charge. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.
How soon can you come?
It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send photos with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.
Do the materials smell?
There can be some smell while we work. It clears as the materials cure.
Is the work guaranteed?
Yes: twelve months. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.
What happens next?
You get a fixed price and available dates. If we need another angle, we will ask.
What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?
The price is fixed for what the pictures show. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.
Will the repair last?
Yes, if it’s prepared properly and the bath is sound. It’s covered by our one-year guarantee.
What your bath is made of matters
Pressed steel
Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.
Acrylic
An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. There is no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.
Repair or replace in Rough Common?
If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It’s quicker, cheaper and far less disruptive, and you keep the bath you chose. If the whole surface is worn, re-enamelling may make more sense, and we will tell you. Prices start from £95. Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is typically a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

Prices and what affects them
Repairs from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including Rough Common. The price reflects:
- The colour and finish to match
- Doing more than one item at once
- What kind of damage it is
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed quote from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.
Getting a price from pictures
You can usually get a fixed price without us visiting. To help us price it:
- One picture of the entire bath
- A clear, close picture of the problem area
- The material, if you know it
- Any earlier repairs or coatings
Send us photos of the damage and one of the whole item, and tell us you’re in Rough Common, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.
Should I try a DIY kit first?
A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.
DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.
What we cannot put right
A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:
- A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
- Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
- Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath
If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before you book.
