Bath repair near Salters Heath

When a repair is not the answer

It helps to know what we cannot do:

  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below
  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

What we work on

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic

How we handle bath repair in Salters Heath

It pays to repair bath damage while it’s small. Exposed metal on enamelled baths soon rusts, and on acrylic, a crack keeps spreading while the bath flexes. Repairing it stops the damage getting worse. Our repair technicians work on acrylic, roll-top & freestanding and cast iron enamel, and people most often call us about chips under the taps and holes from dropped items.

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Hampshire.

Keeping it looking good

A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:

  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
  • Rinse it down after each bath
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
  • Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it

Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before using the bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.

Tape over a fresh chip or crack until it’s repaired, so water can’t get in. Remove it before the repair.

When to call us in Salters Heath

A cracked acrylic bath typically wasn’t supported properly. Legs that are not adjusted, a missing cradle or a soft floor let the bath move until it cracks.

The most common problems we’re called about are:

  • An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
  • Chips on the rim or sides
  • Rust by the waste and overflow
  • Chips under the taps

Questions to ask before you book

  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the pictures show

Our hiring checklist

How the visit works

Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so you know exactly what we’re doing. Then the area is sheeted and masked and we start. Allow a few hours, depending on the damage.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. Once it has cured, usually by the day after, the bath is ready to use.

Before we arrive

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. We price every job individually, from your pictures. The main factors are:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • How much damage there is

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

How to get a fixed price

Good pictures mean an accurate price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A photo taken from further back

Email us pictures of the damage and a wider shot of the entire item, with your RG26 postcode, and we will come back with a fixed quote.

Salters Heath questions

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

Can you repair a crack in an acrylic bath?

Frequently, yes, as long as we can get to the back of the crack to support it. Check under the bath panel, or send us a photo.

Can you price it without visiting?

In nearly every case. If photos do not show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

Do the materials smell?

It depends on the job, but frequently a little. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.

Is a bath repair durable?

It should, as long as the bath is firm and the area was prepared well. It carries our one-year guarantee.

When can I have a bath again?

Typically the following day. We confirm the time before we leave.

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as householders in Salters Heath.

Do you charge for travel?

We do not add a call-out fee. Your fixed price includes everything.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a fitted bath normally means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, re-tiling and a new panel and getting rid of the old bath. A repair fixes just the damaged area in a single visit. Our bath repair starts from £95. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.

Why book with us

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, in much the same way.
