Bath repair for Sands homes

About our bath repair in Sands

Repairing baths is what we do most. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all repaired in place, normally in one visit. If you’re dealing with an old repair that has yellowed or come loose and snagging damage from a refit, we can usually put it right.

Whatever the size of the job, you get the same one-year guarantee.

Questions from Sands

Will the repair show?

We aim for a repair you can’t easily find. The rest of the bath’s condition makes a difference.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

In most cases. The old repair comes out first.

What about rust by the waste?

Yes. We remove the rust and loose enamel, fill the area, then colour-match the finish.

Can you match an avocado or pink bath?

Yes. The colour is mixed on site to suit your bath, including older coloured suites.

Do you come to Sands?

Yes. We work across the UK and travel to Sands and the rest of Kirklees. Send pictures and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Do I have to be there?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. After that, you can carry on with your day.

Can you repair a hole in a bath?

In most cases. Send us a photo of the hole and one from under the bath if you can.

Can you repair a failed DIY repair?

Yes. We take out the old repair and do it properly. Mention it when you send pictures.

Keeping it looking good

A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:

  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
  • Check that an acrylic bath doesn’t move when you stand in it
  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth

There’s nothing special to do after a repair. Avoid bleach-based and gritty cleaners.

A chip on a metal bath shouldn’t be left. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.

What affects the price in Sands

Prices start from £95. We price every job individually, from your pictures. What matters most is:

  • Doing more than one item at once
  • What kind of damage it is
  • The colour and finish to match
  • How much damage there is

What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your pictures, so you know the cost before you book.

Quotes from your photos

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what to send:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • The material, if you know it

Email us a photo of the damage and a wider shot of the entire item, and tell us you are in Sands, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a fitted bath normally means a plumber, removing the old bath, making good the tiles and panel and disposing of the old one. Repairing it fixes just the damaged area in a single visit. Our bath repair starts from £95. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

What you get with us

  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor
  • Colour-matched on site
  • We leave the room as we found it

Can I fix it myself?

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

What happens on the day

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and clear up. Allow a morning or an afternoon from start to finish. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
  5. We leave it to cure; you can normally use the bath the following day.

How to prepare

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

What a repair cannot fix

Not everything can be repaired, and we’ll tell you before we start. Repairs will not solve:

  • Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath
  • Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

What we work on

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic

Work for landlords and builders

  • Damage beneath the taps
  • Chips along the edge of the bath
