Bath repair near Wadebridge

DIY repairs versus a professional job

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

Bath repair at your home in Wadebridge

Small damage on a bath is worth repairing early. Exposed metal on enamelled baths soon rusts, while cracks in acrylic grow each time the bath moves. Repairing it stops the damage getting worse. We regularly repair acrylic, roll-top & freestanding and whirlpool & spa baths, and people most frequently call us about chips on the rim or sides and chips under the taps.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Work for landlords and builders

If you manage property in Wadebridge, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Send pictures for each one and we’ll come back with a combined price.

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Wadebridge as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it generally costs far less than a refit.

What we cannot put right

A repair isn’t right for every job, including:

  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • A steel bath rusted through

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

Common questions in Wadebridge

Is a bath repair durable?

Done properly, a repair lasts for years, and it’s guaranteed for a year. Gentle cleaning helps.

Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?

In most cases. Photos of the hole and the underside help us check.

What areas do you cover?

We cover the whole UK, including Wadebridge and the rest of Cornwall. Send your postcode with your pictures and we’ll offer you dates.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.

I tried a repair kit. Can you fix it?

Yes. We take out the old repair and do it properly. Mention it when you send photos.

What does bath repair cost?

Repairs from £95. Every job gets a fixed quote from your photos. Send a close-up and a photo of the whole item and your postcode.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.

What happens after I send photos?

You get a fixed price and available dates. If we need another angle, we’ll ask.

What your bath is made of matters

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, just like other baths.

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. They don’t rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

The process

Here’s how a visit normally runs: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and clear up. Allow two to three hours for most chips from start to finish. Before we go, we will explain when it can be used and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

Why repair rather than replace?

If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and the bathroom stays as it is. Where the whole surface is tired, we may suggest re-enamelling instead. Prices start from £95. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.

Aftercare tips

To keep it looking its best for years:

  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
  • Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it
  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners

Treat the repaired area like the rest of the bath: warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft cloth. Keep scouring pads and gritty cleaners away from it.

Tape over a fresh chip or crack until it’s repaired, to keep water out. Remove it before the repair.
