Bath repair for Shepherd's Bush homes

Bath repair in Shepherd's Bush without replacing anything

Bath repair is our most common job. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all fixed without removing the bath, normally in one visit. We work on whirlpool & spa baths, acrylic and roll-top & freestanding, and people most often call us about cracks in an acrylic bath and deep scratches in acrylic.

Every repair is covered by our one-year guarantee.

What we cannot put right

Not everything can be repaired, and we would rather say so up front. Repairs won’t solve:

  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

What we work on

  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel

How it works

On the day itself, there is little for you to do. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we’ll take it from there. The job generally runs to two to three hours for most chips, including clearing up.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the next day.

Before we arrive

  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

Advice

Can I fix it myself?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. There is no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, finished with fired enamel. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the bath itself lasts for generations, which makes it well worth repairing.

How we price bath repair

Prices start from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • The type of damage

Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Send photos for a quote

You can take the photos on your phone, there is no need for anything special. Just make sure we can see:

  • The material, if you know it
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Details of any past repairs

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them over with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed quote back. Quotes are free and you are under no obligation.

Repair or replace: which is better?

A new bath brings a chain of other jobs: the tiles sitting on the rim tend to break, the panel may not fit the new one, and the plumbing has to be disconnected and refitted. A repair skips all of it. Our bath repair starts from £95. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Why book with us

  • We leave the room as we found it
  • Nothing taken out or refitted

Questions from Shepherd's Bush

Do you do work for letting agents?

We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

How long before I can use the bath?

Normally by the following day, depending on the repair.

What happens next?

We review the pictures and send a fixed quote.

Can you repair a failed DIY repair?

Regularly. The old material comes out, any rust is treated, then we repair it properly.

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

Will you leave a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

Do you cover Shepherd's Bush?

We do. Repair technicians travel to Shepherd's Bush from across the region, with no extra charge for travel.

What does bath repair cost?

Repairs from £95. The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from pictures. You will get a fixed figure before you book.

Keeping it looking good

Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:

  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent

Clean with mild, non-abrasive cleaners and avoid dropping heavy items on the repaired area. Deal with new chips early, before rust sets in.

If water is getting through a crack, stop using the bath. Leaks under a bath can damage floors and ceilings.

When to call us in Shepherd's Bush

Glass and heavy bottles cause more chips than anything else, closely followed by shower heads. Taps and wastes cause problems too: water sits around them, and any chip there soon rusts.

Most people contact us after spotting one of these:

  • A kit repair that didn’t last
  • A chipped rim or side
  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
  • Scuffs and scratches in the surface

Questions to ask before you book

  • Whether the price covers travel
  • What happens if they find more damage
  • Who will actually do the work
  • Whether they match the colour on site
