How we handle bath repair in Slaidburn

Whether your bath is steel, cast iron or acrylic, we can repair it. The method changes with the material: metal baths need any rust dealt with first, and acrylic cracks need support from behind. We work on roll-top & freestanding, whirlpool & spa baths and pressed steel enamel, and common reasons people contact us are chips on the rim or sides and chips under the taps.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Different materials, different repairs

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, just like other baths.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

Why repair rather than replace?

People often assume a cracked or chipped bath has to come out. Usually it doesn’t: a repair keeps the bath in service for years, and costs far less than the disruption of a replacement. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send photos and we’ll give you the exact figure.

Can I fix it myself?

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

How we price bath repair

Repairs from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including Slaidburn. The price reflects:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • The material
  • The type of damage
  • How many areas need work

The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Send photos for a quote

Two or three clear pictures are generally enough. Try to include:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • One picture of the whole bath
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before

For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Looking after it afterwards

Simple care helps the repair last. Our advice:

  • Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it
  • Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
  • Rinse it down after each bath

Don’t leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, because they can mark the enamel. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.

Avoid standing in a cracked acrylic bath until it’s fixed. Every use opens the crack a little more, and water can get through to the floor below.

The process

You don’t need to empty the room. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and start once you are happy with the plan. Most jobs take two to three hours for most chips, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the following day.

Before we arrive

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

How to get a price

Send us a photo of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, and tell us you are in Slaidburn, and we will reply with a fixed quote.

Honest limits

Not everything can be repaired, and we will tell you before we start. Repairs will not solve:

  • Wear across the entire surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below
  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before booking.
