What your bath is made of matters
Pressed steel
Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.
Acrylic
An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. There is no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.
Slaley: your questions answered
What happens once I’ve sent pictures?
We look at the photos and reply with a fixed quote and some dates. If we need another angle, we will ask.
What areas do you cover?
We work UK-wide, and that includes Slaley. Prices do not change with location.
Can pets and children be at home?
Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we are working in. We’ll tell you when the room can be used again.
Will I be able to see the repair?
On a glossy bath, you’ll struggle to find it. On worn enamel, it can look shinier than the rest.
Can you match an avocado or pink bath?
Yes. The colour is mixed on site to suit your bath, including older coloured suites.
Can you repair a failed DIY repair?
Yes. We remove the old filler and start again. Mention it when you send pictures.
Is my repair covered?
Yes, for a year. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as homeowners in Slaley.
Repair or replace: which is better?
Many people think a damaged bath means a new one. Generally it does not: a proper repair gives it years more use, and costs far less than the disruption of a replacement. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the whole job up front. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

The process
You do not need to empty the room. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and start once you are happy with the plan. It typically takes a morning or an afternoon, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.
- First, we check the damage against your pictures and agree the plan.
- Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
- We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
- We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
- Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.
Before we arrive
- Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
- Let us know which floor the room is on
- Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
Get a quote
The quickest way to a price is to send two or three pictures using our quote form or call us. We will say immediately whether it can be repaired.
Related advice
How we price bath repair
Repairs from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:
- What kind of damage it is
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
- How many items we do on one visit
- The material and finish
The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. You will see the full price before booking, with no extras added later.
Getting a price from pictures
The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:
- One sharp close-up of the damage
- A picture taken from further back
- Where you are, by postcode
- Details of any past repairs
Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them to us with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed quote back. Quotes are free and you are under no obligation.
How to care for the repair
Once the work has cured, treat it gently:
- Have new chips seen to early
- Don’t scrub with anything abrasive
- Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
- If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
Give the repair the full curing time we recommend before using the bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.
A chip on a metal bath shouldn’t be left. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.
DIY kit or professional repair?
The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.
For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.
What a repair cannot fix
Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits:
- A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
- Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below
- Metal that has corroded all the way through
If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.
