What we cannot put right
A repair isn’t always the answer, and we will tell you before we start. Repairs will not solve:
- Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
- Metal that has corroded all the way through
- Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath
Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

Bath repair in St Ann's Chapel, done in place
Small damage on a bath is worth repairing early. Exposed metal on enamelled baths soon rusts, and on acrylic, a crack keeps spreading while the bath flexes. Repairing it stops the damage getting worse. We’re frequently asked to fix scratches you can feel with a fingernail and rusty patches near the plughole, on cast iron enamel, roll-top & freestanding and whirlpool & spa baths.
All our work comes with our one-year guarantee.

What we are called out for in St Ann's Chapel
Rust typically starts where water sits, by the plughole, beneath dripping taps or in an unrepaired chip. Water on bare metal causes rust that creeps under the surrounding enamel.
People usually call us after spotting something like this:
- Snagging damage from a refit
- An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
- A chipped rim or side
- A chip where the taps sit

- How the colour is matched

Repairing versus replacing in St Ann's Chapel
A new bath brings a chain of other jobs: the tiles sitting on the rim tend to break, the panel may not fit the new one, and a plumber has to disconnect and reconnect everything. Repairing the damage avoids all of that. Our bath repair starts from £95. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Different materials, different repairs
Acrylic
An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. There is no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.
Pressed steel
Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Exposed steel rusts fast, especially around the waste, so repair chips early.
How it works
You do not need to empty the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and start once you’re happy with the plan. It usually takes a morning or an afternoon, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.
- First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
- The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
- The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
- We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
- Once it has cured, usually by the following day, the bath is ready to use.
Getting ready for the visit
- Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
- Clear the area around the damage
- Make sure the area is dry

St Ann's Chapel questions
Can I add another job to the visit?
Yes. Doing several items on one visit usually costs less than separate visits. Send photos of everything you’d like done.
Can you quote from pictures?
Yes, almost always. Clear photos let us give you a fixed quote without visiting.
Is the work guaranteed?
Yes: twelve months. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.
Can you redo an old repair?
Yes, we do this frequently. We strip it out, deal with any rust and repair it again.
What does bath repair cost?
Prices start from £95. Because every job differs, we price from pictures. You’ll get a fixed figure before you book.
Is a bath repair permanent?
Yes, if it’s prepared properly and the bath is sound. It’s covered by our one-year guarantee.
Can you redo someone else’s repair?
Yes, regularly. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.
Are there extra charges for St Ann's Chapel?
There is no separate call-out charge. Your fixed price includes everything.
Keeping it looking good
Looking after the surface is easy, and it makes a real difference:
- Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
- Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
- Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
- Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
Clean with mild, non-abrasive cleaners and try not to drop heavy bottles on the repair. Get any new chip seen to quickly, before rust sets in.
If water is getting through a crack, stop using the bath. Water under the bath can damage the floor and the ceiling below.
DIY kit or professional repair?
If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.
You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.
For landlords and businesses
We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in St Ann's Chapel as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.
For anyone letting property in or around St Ann's Chapel, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Send photos for each one and we’ll price them together.
