Bath repair near St Athan

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Bath repair in St Athan without replacing anything

Whether your bath is steel, cast iron or acrylic, we can repair it. Each material is repaired a little differently: rust is treated on metal baths, while cracks in acrylic are reinforced from underneath. If you’re dealing with a kit repair that didn’t last and chips caused by builders, we can help, on cast iron enamel, roll-top & freestanding and pressed steel enamel alike.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including St Athan. What changes the price is:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • Access to the area

Set against the cost of replacement, repairing generally costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Send photos for a quote

Phone pictures are fine. Make sure they show:

  • Any details about the material
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of pictures through our quote form or call us. We’ll say immediately whether it can be repaired.

St Athan questions

Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?

Generally. Photos of the hole and the underside help us check.

Are there extra charges for St Athan?

There is no separate call-out charge. Your fixed price includes everything.

Can you repair a chip on a coloured bath?

Yes, coloured baths are no problem. We tint the finish to your bath on site.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit usually costs less than separate visits. Include photos of each item.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Yes, almost always. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed quote without visiting.

Do the materials smell?

Expect a mild smell while we’re working, which fades afterwards.

Do I need to be at home?

We need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.

How quickly can you book me in?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.

What happens on the day

Visits start with a quick look at the job together. Then the area is sheeted and masked and the work begins. You can expect it to take a few hours, and we’ll keep you posted as we go.

  1. First, we check the damage against your pictures and agree the plan.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift

Ask for a price

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price. There’s no charge for the quote and no obligation.

Repair or replace: which is better?

If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It’s quicker, cheaper and far less disruptive, and you keep the bath you chose. Where the whole surface is tired, we may suggest re-enamelling instead. Our bath repair starts from £95. We charge the same wherever you are, so there is no premium for St Athan. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

What you get with us

  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited
  • One visit for most repairs
  • Fixed prices from your pictures
  • A year’s guarantee on all work

Looking after it afterwards

Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:

  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
  • Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
  • Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it
  • Rinse it down after each bath

In the first few days, avoid putting weight or bottles on the repair. After that, normal gentle cleaning is fine without abrasive products.

Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through until it’s repaired. Water under the bath can damage the floor and the ceiling below.

When to call us in St Athan

Baths take more knocks than people expect: bottles, shower heads and razors are dropped every day, and fittings press hard against the enamel. Over time, chips and rust spots are almost inevitable.

Look out for these signs:

  • Damage beneath the taps
  • Rust spots around the plughole
  • A hole punched through by something heavy
  • A cracked acrylic bath

Before booking anyone

  • What preparation is included
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • Who will actually do the work
  • A fixed quote, and whether VAT is included

Our hiring checklist

Landlords, agents and businesses in St Athan

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in St Athan as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it normally costs far less than a refit.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover. We can visit several plots in one trip to keep costs down.

When a repair isn’t the answer

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below
  • Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.
