Bath repair in Stone

Repairs by material

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, in much the same way.

About our bath repair in Stone

Most bath damage, from chips and cracks to rust spots and holes, can be repaired with the bath left exactly where it is. Nothing is unplumbed, your tiles stay as they are, and the repaired area is colour-matched so it blends in. We work on cast iron enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and acrylic, and common reasons people contact us are damage beneath the taps and cracks in an acrylic bath.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

Stone questions

How long does the repair take to cure?

Generally within a day, depending on the repair.

Do you cover the whole of Gloucestershire?

The whole UK, including all of Gloucestershire. Send your postcode with your pictures and we will confirm dates.

Is there any odour?

It depends on the job, but often a little. Open windows and an extractor fan help.

Can you repair a crack in an acrylic bath?

Most of the time. We reinforce the crack from behind, then fill and refinish the front, so access behind the panel is important.

Can you redo an old repair?

Yes. We remove the old filler and start again. Tell us about it when you send pictures.

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses.

How do I get a price for bath repair in Stone?

Prices start from £95. We give a fixed quote from your pictures. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo with your GL13 postcode.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and you’ll get one combined price.

How we price bath repair

Prices start from £95. There is no area surcharge for Stone. What changes the price is:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • What the surface is made of
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Stone. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Getting a price from photos

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. Try to include:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • The material, if you know it
  • A photo taken from further back
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates

If you’re in Stone and want a price, pictures are the quickest way: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. You will get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

What we cannot put right

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel

How to look after the repair

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Store metal items away from the bath
  • Make sure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it
  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners

Clean with mild, non-abrasive cleaners and avoid dropping heavy items on the repaired area. Get any new chip seen to quickly, before rust can start.

If an acrylic bath has a crack, stop showering in it until it’s repaired. Every use opens the crack a little more, and it can start to leak underneath.

When to call us in Stone

Nearly all the chips we see start with something being dropped: a shampoo bottle, a shower head, a tile or a tool during a refit. On enamelled baths, a chip that reaches the metal will start to rust.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted
  • Chips along the edge of the bath
  • Rust by the waste and overflow
  • Damage beneath the taps

Before booking anyone

  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • If travel is included in the price
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • When it can be used again

What we do, step by step

Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you know when to expect us. Once we’re there, the work takes a morning or an afternoon in most cases. We leave the room clean.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

How to prepare

  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Open a window if you can
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

Getting a price

DIY repairs versus a professional job

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.
