Bath repair near Sunnyfields

How we handle bath repair in Sunnyfields

A repair fixes just the damaged area and blends it into the rest of the bath, which is far cheaper than replacing a fitted bath. Most baths can be used again the day after. If you’re dealing with chips along the edge of the bath and a cracked acrylic bath, we can usually put it right, on pressed steel enamel, roll-top & freestanding and cast iron enamel alike.

All our work is covered by a one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Doncaster.

The process

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we’ve agreed what we are doing. It typically takes two to three hours for most chips, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. First, we check the damage against your pictures and agree the plan.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

Advice

Keeping it looking good

Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:

  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Rinse it down after each bath
  • Don’t leave razors or cans standing in the bath

Treat the repaired area like the rest of the bath: a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs. Avoid scourers and gritty cream cleaners.

Rust under enamel spreads surprisingly quickly. Left for months, a small chip can grow into a large rust patch, so early repair keeps the cost down.

Why repair rather than replace?

For damage in one or two places, a repair is the obvious choice. It costs far less than a new bath plus fitting, it takes one visit, and the bathroom stays exactly as it is. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you’ll get a fixed figure.

Common questions in Sunnyfields

Do you cover the entire of Doncaster?

Everywhere in the UK, Sunnyfields included. Travel is included in the price.

Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?

Usually. Photos of the hole and the underside help us check.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes, for a year. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

What happens after I send photos?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote with dates.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before and we’ll plan for it.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, so the repair is not disturbed while it cures.

What about rust by the waste?

Yes, very frequently. We take it back to sound metal, seal it, fill it and match the colour.

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

For landlords and businesses

Letting agents often send us pictures straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

DIY kit or professional repair?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

When we would advise against a repair

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair cannot fix:

  • Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • Wear across the entire surface, which needs re-enamelling

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly.
