Bath repair in Talke, done in place
Whether your bath is steel, cast iron or acrylic, we can repair it. Each material is repaired a little differently: metal baths need any rust dealt with first, and acrylic cracks need support from behind. Typical jobs include scratches you can feel with a fingernail and a chip where the taps sit, in cast iron enamel, roll-top & freestanding and pressed steel enamel.
Peace of mind is built in: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

What we’re called out for in Talke
A bath gets knocked about more than you’d think: bottles, shower heads and razors are dropped every day, and fittings press hard against the enamel. Over time, chips and rust spots are almost inevitable.
The most common problems we are called about are:
- Damage beneath the taps
- A hole punched through by something heavy
- Rusty patches near the plughole
- A failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting

Repairs by material
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, finished with fired enamel. Chips can rust if left, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, so it’s always worth repairing.
Pressed steel
Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Chips rust quickly on steel, especially around the waste, so early repairs matter.
Common questions in Talke
How long does the repair take to cure?
Typically the day after. We’ll tell you the exact curing time when we finish.
Do I have to be there?
We need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.
How quickly can you book me in?
It depends on the time of year and where you are. We’ll offer you dates when we send your quote.
Is it OK to have pets in the house?
Just keep them out of the work area. We will tell you when the room can be used again.
Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?
Usually, yes. We remove the old repair before doing a new one.
Is there any odour?
There may be a mild smell during the work, which fades afterwards.
Is repairing better than replacing?
In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.
What happens once I’ve sent photos?
We come back with a fixed price. You are under no obligation.
Keeping it looking good
Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:
- Make sure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
- Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
- Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
- Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
In the first few days, avoid putting weight or bottles on the repair. After that, normal gentle cleaning is fine, avoiding abrasives.
Until we visit, a strip of waterproof tape over the damage helps, to keep water out. Remove it before the repair.
What we cannot put right
We will always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:
- Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
- A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
- A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.
Surfaces we repair
- Pressed steel enamel

What we do, step by step
Your technician turns up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and checks the damage against your pictures first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. The work itself takes a morning or an afternoon, and the room is left clean and tidy.
- We protect the bath and the floor around it.
- The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased.
- Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
- We match both the colour and the shine.
- We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the day after.
Preparing for the visit
- Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
- Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
- Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

Should I try a DIY kit first?
It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.
Repair or replace in Talke?
Replacing a bath rarely stops at the bath: tiles along the rim generally crack when it comes out, the panel may not fit the new one, and a plumber has to disconnect and reconnect everything. A repair skips all of it. Our bath repair starts from £95. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.
Why us?
- Most jobs done in one visit
- Fixed prices from your pictures
- Colour mixed on the day to match

How we price bath repair
Repairs from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including Talke. What changes the price is:
- How easy the damage is to reach
- The type of damage
- What the surface is made of
- The colour and finish to match
We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Talke. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.
Quotes from your photos
Photographing the damage takes a minute, and it saves a visit. Try to send:
- Something in shot to show the size
- The postcode, so we can plan the visit
- A wider photo showing the whole bath
- Any earlier repairs or coatings
A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the whole bath, add your postcode and send them to us. You’ll get a fixed quote, not an estimate.
