About our bath repair in Newcastle-under-Lyme

We repair just the damaged spot and colour-match it to the bath, which costs far less than replacing a fitted bath. Most baths can be used again the following day. We work on cast iron enamel, roll-top & freestanding and whirlpool & spa baths, and the jobs we see most are chips under the taps and chips caused by builders.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you are not left on your own once we have gone.

Newcastle-under-Lyme: your questions answered

Will the price change on the day?

The price is fixed for what the pictures show. If there’s more, we will tell you before starting.

Is a bath repair durable?

A properly prepared repair should last a long time, and ours come with a one-year guarantee. Gentle cleaning helps it last.

Will you leave a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

Do the materials smell?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied. It clears as the materials cure.

Do you repair coloured baths?

Yes. The colour is mixed on site to suit your bath, including pastel and older colours.

Do you cover Newcastle-under-Lyme?

Yes. We cover the whole UK and travel to Newcastle-under-Lyme and the rest of Staffordshire. Send us photos for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?

In most cases. We reinforce the crack from behind, then fill and refinish the front, so we need access under the bath.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Yes, we often do. Removing the old work can add time, and that is in the quote.

What a repair cannot fix

We would rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.

Materials we work on in Newcastle-under-Lyme

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Acrylic
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including Newcastle-under-Lyme. What changes the price is:

  • The material and finish
  • The type of damage
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • The colour and finish to match

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before you book.

Quotes from your pictures

Good photos mean an accurate price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • What it’s made of, if you know

Send us a photo of the damage and one of the whole item, with your ST5 postcode, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.

Repairs by material

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, just like other baths.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, finished with fired enamel. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, so it’s always worth repairing.

Should you replace it?

A repair makes sense whenever the damage is localised. It costs far less than a new bath plus fitting, it takes one visit, and the bathroom stays exactly as it is. Prices start from £95. There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Why us?

  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited
  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • We’ll tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • One price list for the entire UK

How the visit works

Here’s how a visit usually runs: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and clear up. Plan for two to three hours for most chips. Before we go, we will explain how long to leave it and how to look after it.

  1. First, we check the damage against your pictures and agree the plan.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

Related advice

Do you need bath repair in Newcastle-under-Lyme?

Nearly all the chips we see start with something being dropped: a shampoo bottle, a shower head, a tile or a tool during a refit. On enamelled baths, any chip down to the metal will start to rust.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • Cracks in an acrylic bath
  • Chips on the rim or sides
  • Snagging damage from a refit
  • Damage beneath the taps

10 questions to ask before you book

Should I try a DIY kit first?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.
