Bath repair in Tenterden, done in place

You don’t need a new bath because of a chip. Our repair technicians fill, shape and refinish the damage, with the colour mixed on site so the repair is hard to spot. We work on pressed steel enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and cast iron enamel, and the jobs we see most are damage beneath the taps and a cracked acrylic bath.

You are covered after we leave: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Before and after: a damaged acrylic bath corner repaired in place

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.

Common questions in Tenterden

What areas do you cover?

Across the UK, so Tenterden is covered. Our prices are the same everywhere.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, mainly so nothing gets touched before it has cured.

Can you quote from pictures?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the photos cannot show what we need.

Is there any odour?

A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum.

Is it messy?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we have finished.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

How long before I can use the bath?

Normally by the following day, depending on the repair.

Can tenants book a repair?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged.

What we are called out for in Tenterden

Damage during fitting is very common. Tradespeople drop tools and tiles into the bath, and the damage is not always spotted until later. Snagging repairs like these are a regular job for us.

Look out for these signs:

  • An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
  • Holes from dropped items
  • Rusty patches near the plughole
  • Chips along the edge of the bath

Questions to ask before booking

  • If travel is included in the price
  • How the room is protected while they work
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?

Our hiring checklist

Repair or replace in Tenterden?

Cast iron baths especially are worth keeping: they’re very heavy to remove, especially upstairs, and a like-for-like replacement can be expensive. A repair keeps it in place. Our bath repair starts from £95. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it.

What we do, step by step

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and get going once we’ve agreed what we’re doing. Most jobs take two to three hours for most chips, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. First, we check the damage against your photos and agree the plan.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Ensure the area is dry

What bath repair costs

Prices start from £95. There is no area surcharge for Tenterden. What changes the price is:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you’ll get a fixed figure.

Quotes from your photos

The better the photos, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • Something in shot to show the size
  • One picture of the whole bath
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can give you a fixed quote.

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. They do not rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

Looking after it afterwards

Looking after the surface is easy, and it makes a real difference:

  • Do not scrub with anything abrasive
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating

In the first few days, avoid putting weight or bottles on the repair. After that, normal gentle cleaning is fine.

If water is getting through a crack, stop using the bath. Leaks under a bath can damage floors and ceilings.

Honest limits

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • A steel bath rusted through
  • A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before you book.
