Bath chip & crack repair in The Handfords, Staffordshire
Chip and crack repairs to enamel, acrylic and cast iron baths at your home in The Handfords, with a one-year guarantee on every repair.
- Repairs from £95
- Deep scratches in acrylic
- An old repair that has yellowed or come loose

How to care for the repair
Nothing complicated is needed:
- Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
- Give the bath a quick rinse after use
- Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
- Do not scrub with anything abrasive
Look after the repair the same way as the bath: a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs. Keep scouring pads and gritty cleaners away from it.
Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through. Water under the bath can damage the floor and the ceiling below.
How we handle bath repair in The Handfords
We repair enamelled steel, cast iron and acrylic baths. The method changes with the material: metal baths need any rust dealt with first, and acrylic cracks need support from behind. We work on pressed steel enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and cast iron enamel, and people most often call us about hairline or through cracks in acrylic and a hole punched through by something heavy.
All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you live. We return to put right any problem with the work.

FAQs for The Handfords
Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?
Normally, yes, if we can reach behind it. The hole is backed, filled and refinished to match.
How invisible is a bath repair?
On a bath in good condition, a colour-matched repair is very hard to spot. On older, dull enamel the repair can look glossier than the area around it.
Can I add another job to the visit?
Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include photos of each item.
Do you hold any accreditations?
We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.
Do you work in The Handfords?
We do. We send a technician to The Handfords for every job, with no extra charge for travel.
What about rust by the waste?
Yes, very frequently. We take it back to sound metal, seal it, fill it and match the colour.
Will the repair last?
It should, as long as the bath is firm and the area was prepared well. It carries our one-year guarantee.
Is my repair covered?
Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.
Repair or replace in The Handfords?
Replacing a bath rarely stops at the bath: tiles along the rim usually crack when it comes out, the panel may not fit the new one, and the plumbing has to be disconnected and refitted. A repair skips all of it. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Compared with replacing, repairing typically costs far less, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

The process
From the moment we arrive, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the job takes a few hours, depending on the damage, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.
- We protect the bath and the floor around it.
- We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
- We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
- We match both the colour and the shine.
- We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the day after.
Before we arrive
- Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
- Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
- Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
How to get a price
Send us a photo of the damage and one of the entire item, and tell us you’re in The Handfords, and we will reply with a fixed quote.
Advice
For landlords and businesses
Letting agents frequently send us pictures straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.
Hospitality businesses cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We can work around your bookings.

What we’re called out for in The Handfords
Nearly all the chips we see start with something being dropped: bottles, shower heads, tiles and tools. On steel and cast iron baths, any chip down to the metal will start to rust.
The most common problems we are called about are:
- Damage beneath the taps
- A kit repair that didn’t last
- Cracks in an acrylic bath
- Impact holes in acrylic

Different materials, different repairs
Acrylic
Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. They don’t rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.
Composite and resin
Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, in much the same way.
DIY repairs versus a professional job
A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.
If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.
How we price bath repair
Repairs from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including The Handfords. The price reflects:
- Whether we combine several jobs
- How much damage there is
- Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
- The material
Rather than charging by the hour, we price the whole job up front. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.
Quotes from your photos
The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what helps:
- Any earlier repairs or coatings
- Any details about the material
- Natural light rather than flash
- Where you are, by postcode
You do not need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.
