About our bath repair in Three Horse Shoes
A repair fixes just the damaged area and blends it into the rest of the bath, which is far cheaper than replacing a fitted bath and the tiles around it. Most baths can be used again the following day. If you are dealing with chips under the taps and chips along the edge of the bath, we can help, whatever the material.
You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we will sort it.

Keeping it looking good
After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:
- Store metal items away from the bath
- Rinse it down after each bath
- Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
- Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
Keep metal objects like razors and cans off the surface, because they can mark the enamel. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.
Rust spreads under enamel faster than most people expect. Left for months, a small chip can grow into a large rust patch, so early repair keeps the cost down.

What happens on the day
Here’s how a visit normally runs: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, do the job and tidy away. Plan for a few hours, depending on the damage from start to finish. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.
- We protect the bath and the floor around it.
- We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
- Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
- Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
- We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the next day.
Preparing for the visit
- Have a window or extractor fan available
- Let us know if it has been repaired before
- Tell us if there are stairs or a lift

Related advice
Should you replace it?
Swapping a damaged bath for a new one normally involves a plumber, removing the old bath, making good the tiles and panel and disposing of the old one. A repair fixes just the damaged area in one visit. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.
Why us?

Materials and what they mean for the repair
Acrylic
Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. They don’t rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, finished with fired enamel. Chips can rust if left, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, so it’s always worth repairing.
Three Horse Shoes: your questions answered
Can you repair a chip on a coloured bath?
Yes. The colour is mixed on site to suit your bath, including older coloured suites.
How long before I can use the bath?
Generally the day after. We confirm the time before we leave.
Are there extra charges for Three Horse Shoes?
We do not add a call-out fee. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.
What about rust by the waste?
Yes. We take out the rust and any loose enamel, seal and fill the area, then colour-match the finish.
Can you repair several things at once?
Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.
How quickly can you book me in?
We will give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.
How invisible is a bath repair?
The goal is a repair that blends in. How well it disappears depends on the condition of the rest of the bath.
Is my repair covered?
All our work carries our one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.
What we are called out for in Three Horse Shoes
Heavy toiletries are the biggest single cause of chips, closely followed by shower heads. Taps and wastes cause problems too: water collects there, so chips nearby rust quickly.
These are the problems we are asked about most:
- A cracked acrylic bath
- Chips caused by builders
- Scuffs and scratches in the surface
- A failed DIY repair that is discoloured or lifting

What bath repair costs
Repairs from £95. There’s no charge for travel to Three Horse Shoes. The price depends on:
- How much damage there is
- Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
- How hard the colour is to match
- The material and finish
A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.
Send pictures for a quote
Photographing the damage takes a minute, and it saves a visit. Try to send:
- Details of any past repairs
- Natural light rather than flash
- A picture taken from further back
- A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
Upload photos of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, with your EX5 postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.
Should I try a DIY kit first?
The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.
You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.
