Need bath repair in Tittensor?

Bath repair in Tittensor without replacing anything

Repairing baths is what we do most. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all repaired in place, normally in one visit. We’re frequently asked to fix a chipped rim or side and rust spots around the plughole, on pressed steel enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and cast iron enamel.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything is not right, ring us and we will come back.

When a repair isn’t the answer

Some jobs are not right for a repair, including:

  • Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Materials we work on in Tittensor

What happens on the day

We work cleanly and quietly, so you can carry on at home. We protect the area first, then the work takes two to three hours for most chips. At the end we talk you through how soon it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

Keeping it looking good

It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:

  • Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it
  • Store metal items away from the bath
  • Check that an acrylic bath doesn’t move when you stand in it
  • Get a dripping tap fixed promptly

In the first few days, avoid putting weight or bottles on the repair. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath without abrasive products.

A chip on a metal bath shouldn’t be left. Water gets to the metal and rust starts, turning a quick repair into a bigger one.

Questions from Tittensor

Can you repair a crack in an acrylic bath?

In most cases. The back of the crack is strengthened before the front is filled and refinished, so access behind the panel is important.

Are you accredited?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

What happens next?

We come back with a fixed price, typically with dates to choose from. You are under no obligation.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Most of the time. Tell us what was done before.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Of course, and it typically saves money. Just add the extra items to your pictures and we’ll quote them together.

How long does the repair take to cure?

Usually within a day, depending on the repair.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We carry out repairs for homeowners, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses in Tittensor.

Will the repair show?

We aim for a repair you can’t easily find. How well it disappears depends on the condition of the rest of the bath, and we’ll tell you what to expect.

Common problems we fix in Tittensor

Rust tends to begin where water collects, by the plughole, beneath dripping taps or in an unrepaired chip. Once water reaches the steel or iron, rust spreads under the enamel.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • Chips under the taps
  • Rust spots around the plughole
  • Chips on the rim or sides
  • Cracks in an acrylic bath

Questions to ask before booking

  • How changes to the job are handled
  • What aftercare is recommended
  • When it can be used again
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match

How to compare quotes

Can I fix it myself?

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

What your bath is made of matters

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. There is no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, just like other baths.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including Tittensor. What changes the price is:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • The material and finish
  • Whether we combine several jobs

A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you’ll get a fixed figure.

Quotes from your photos

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • The material, if you know it

Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote. There is no charge for the quote and no obligation.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Cast iron baths especially are worth keeping: getting one out, particularly from an upstairs bathroom, is a big job, and a like-for-like replacement can be expensive. A repair keeps it in place. Our bath repair starts from £95. There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Why book with us

  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Generally one visit, start to finish
  • We leave the room as we found it
  • Colour-matched on site
