Your questions about bath repair in Top o' th' Lane

How long does the repair take to cure?

Generally the following day. We will tell you the exact curing time when we finish.

Can you repair a chip on a coloured bath?

Yes. We mix the colour on the day to match, including older coloured suites.

Do I have to be there?

We need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.

Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?

In most cases. Photos of the hole and the underside help us check.

Will it make a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

How do I book?

Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787, and we’ll take it from there.

Is there a call-out fee?

There’s no separate call-out charge. Your fixed quote includes everything.

Do the materials smell?

Expect a mild smell while we’re working.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including Top o' th' Lane. What changes the price is:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • What the surface is made of
  • How much damage there is

Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Getting a price from pictures

Most quotes are done from photos alone. To help us price it:

  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • The material, if you know it

You do not need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

The process

Here’s how a visit generally runs: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and tidy away. Plan for a few hours from start to finish. Before we go, we will explain when it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. First, we check the damage against your pictures and agree the plan.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

How to get a price

Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and you will get a fixed price back. Quotes are free and no obligation.

Advice

Aftercare tips

It’s all simple stuff:

  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
  • Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
  • Rinse it down after each bath

Use gentle, non-abrasive cleaners and avoid dropping heavy items on the repaired area. Deal with new chips early, before rust can start.

A chip on a metal bath shouldn’t be left. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.

Why repair rather than replace?

Swapping a damaged bath for a new one usually means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, making good the tiles and panel and disposing of the old one. Repairing it fixes just the damaged area in one visit. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. You will see the full price before you book, with nothing added on the day.

Repairs by material

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. They do not rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, with a fused enamel surface. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, which makes it well worth repairing.

Can I fix it myself?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.
