Bath repair in Torridge without replacing anything

We repair just the damaged spot and colour-match it to the bath, which is far cheaper than replacing a fitted bath. Most baths can be used again the next day. If you are dealing with scuffs and scratches in the surface and chips caused by builders, we can usually put it right.

Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. Each job gets its own fixed price. These are the things that affect it:

  • The type of damage
  • Access to the area
  • The material and finish
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Torridge. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Quotes from your pictures

Good photos mean an accurate price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A photo taken from further back

Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can price the job the same day in most cases.

The process

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, cover and mask the work area, and get on with the job, which normally takes a few hours. If we find something your pictures didn’t show, we will explain it before carrying on.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the day after.

Before we arrive

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

Getting a price

There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

Honest limits

We will not take on work that will not last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:

  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
  • Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before booking.

Landlord and trade work in Torridge

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a bath rarely stops at the bath: the tiles sitting on the rim tend to break, a new panel is frequently needed, and a plumber has to disconnect and reconnect everything. Repairing the damage avoids all of that. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Compared with replacing, repairing generally costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Why us?

  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Repair technicians who travel to you, UK-wide
  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • Free fixed quotes from pictures

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. They don’t rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, with a fused enamel surface. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, which makes it well worth repairing.

Keeping it looking good

Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:

  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth

In the first few days, avoid putting weight or bottles on the repair. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath.

If water is getting through a crack, stop using the bath. Leaks under a bath can damage floors and ceilings.

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.
