When to call us in Trelowth
Heavy toiletries are the biggest single cause of chips, closely followed by shower heads. Taps and wastes cause problems too: water sits around them, and any chip there soon rusts.
Signs it’s time to call us include:
- Chips along the edge of the bath
- A kit repair that didn’t last
- Scratches you can feel with a fingernail
- Hairline or through cracks in acrylic

Repair or replace: which is better?
Cast iron baths especially are worth keeping: getting one out, particularly from an upstairs bathroom, is a big job, and replacing like for like is not cheap. Repairing it leaves it where it is. Prices start from £95. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.
Why us?
- Straight answers about what a repair can do
- One price list for the whole UK
- No need to remove anything
- Dust sheets down, tidy finish

Questions from Trelowth
What information do you need?
Some photos, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, access to the room.
How long before I can use the bath?
Normally within a day, depending on the repair.
Is there any odour?
There can be some smell while we work, so we ventilate the room. It fades as everything cures.
Will the repair show?
On a glossy bath, you’ll struggle to find it. On older, dull enamel the repair can look glossier than the area around it.
Is a bath repair permanent?
Done properly, a repair lasts for years, and it’s guaranteed for a year. Gentle cleaning helps.
Do you do work for letting agents?
Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as homeowners.
Is there a call-out fee?
Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.
Can tenants book a repair?
We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

Looking after it afterwards
Once the work has cured, treat it gently:
- Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
- Give the bath a quick rinse after use
- Do not scrub with anything abrasive
- Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
For the first few days, keep heavy bottles off the repaired spot. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath without abrasive products.
Rust spreads under enamel faster than most people expect. A chip the size of a fingernail can become a much larger patch if it’s left for months, so early repair keeps the cost down.
How we price bath repair
Prices start from £95. There’s no area surcharge for Trelowth. The price reflects:
- What kind of damage it is
- How easy the damage is to reach
- How much damage there is
- The colour and finish to match
The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed quote from your photos, so you know the cost before booking.
Getting a price from photos
It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Try to send:
- Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
- Any earlier repairs or coatings
- Any details about the material
- One sharp close-up of the damage
A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the whole bath, include your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.
Honest limits
Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair cannot fix:
- A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
- Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
- Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before booking.
What we work on
- Pressed steel enamel
- Whirlpool & spa baths
- Roll-top & freestanding
- Cast iron enamel
- Acrylic
Different materials, different repairs
Acrylic
Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.
Cast iron
A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.
How the visit works
The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can stay at home while we’re there. Protection goes down first, then the job itself takes a few hours. At the end we talk you through how soon it can be used and how to care for it.
- Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
- The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased, and any rust is treated.
- Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
- We match both the colour and the shine.
- We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, usually the next day.
Getting ready for the visit
- Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
- Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
- Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
How to get a price
Send us pictures of the damage and one of the entire item, and tell us you are in Trelowth, and we will come back with a fixed quote.
Related advice
DIY kit or professional repair?
It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.
