What we do, step by step

You don’t need to empty the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and start once you’re happy with the plan. It typically takes a few hours, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. Once it has cured, generally by the following day, the bath is ready to use.

Before we arrive

  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift

Bath repair in Trub, done in place

Bath repair is our most common job. Chips on the rim, rust around the waste and cracks in acrylic are all fixed without removing the bath, normally in a single visit. We regularly repair cast iron enamel, roll-top & freestanding and acrylic, and common reasons people contact us are deep scratches in acrylic and a chip where the taps sit.

Every repair is covered by a one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Rochdale.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. A fixed quote means you know the cost before booking. We look at:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • How much damage there is
  • The material
  • The type of damage

Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is usually a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

How to get a fixed price

We price nearly every job from pictures. This is what we need:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • The material, if you know it
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, include your postcode and send them to us. You’ll get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

Do you need bath repair in Trub?

Glass and heavy bottles cause more chips than anything else, with dropped shower heads close behind. Fittings cause damage too: water collects there, so chips nearby rust quickly.

People normally call us after spotting something like this:

  • A kit repair that didn’t last
  • Chips caused by builders
  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
  • Damage beneath the taps

  • Who turns up on the day

Honest limits

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below
  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

What we work on

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding

DIY kit or professional repair?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Repairs by material

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Exposed steel rusts fast, especially around the waste, so early repairs matter.

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, in much the same way.

Common questions in Trub

Are there extra charges for Trub?

We do not add a call-out fee. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

Do you come to Trub?

Yes. We cover the whole UK and travel to Trub. Send us photos for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Which areas do you work in?

The entire UK, including all of Rochdale. Just include your postcode and we will confirm dates.

What happens after I send pictures?

We look at the pictures and reply with a fixed quote and some dates. If anything’s unclear, we will ask for another photo.

Is a bath repair permanent?

It should, as long as the bath is firm and the area was prepared well. It carries our one-year guarantee.

Can you match an avocado or pink bath?

Yes. We mix the colour on the day to match, including older coloured suites.

Is a cracked acrylic bath repairable?

In most cases. We reinforce the crack from behind, then fill and refinish the front, so access behind the panel is important.

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We carry out repairs for homeowners, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Cast iron baths in particular are worth repairing: getting one out, particularly from an upstairs bathroom, is a big job, and replacing like for like isn’t cheap. Repairing it leaves it where it is. Our bath repair starts from £95. A repair typically costs much less than people expect, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Why book with us

  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • Colour-matched on site
