Bath repair near Underhill

About our bath repair in Underhill

A damaged bath doesn’t have to mean a new bathroom. Our repair technicians fill, shape and refinish the damage, with the colour mixed on site. Typical jobs include chips caused by builders and rust spots around the plughole, across pressed steel enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and acrylic.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re covered after the visit.

Honest limits

It helps to know what we cannot do too:

  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly.

Materials we repair

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Acrylic

How we price bath repair

Repairs from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • The type of damage
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • What the surface is made of

Compared with replacing, a repair is typically a fraction of the price, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Getting a price from photos

Most quotes are done from photos alone. To make it quick:

  • A wider photo showing the whole bath
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • The material, if you know it

Upload photos of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, with your EN5 postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.

Common questions in Underhill

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit generally costs less than separate visits. Send photos of everything you’d like done.

Do you repair coloured baths?

Yes, coloured baths are no problem. We tint the finish to your bath on site.

How long does the repair take to cure?

Most baths can be used the next day. We confirm the time before we leave.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures cannot show what we need.

Can you repair a failed DIY repair?

Yes, we do this frequently. The old material comes out, any rust is treated, then we repair it properly.

Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?

In most cases. Send us a photo of the hole and one from under the bath if you can.

Do you charge for travel?

Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Chips rust quickly on steel, especially around the waste, so early repairs matter.

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is what we repair.

How the visit works

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and get going once we have agreed what we’re doing. It normally takes two to three hours for most chips, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
  4. We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
  5. Once it has cured, usually by the day after, the bath is ready to use.

Preparing for the visit

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Open a window if you can

Advice

Should you replace it?

Cast iron baths especially are worth keeping: getting one out, particularly from an upstairs bathroom, is a big job, and a like-for-like replacement can be expensive. Repairing it leaves it where it is. Prices start from £95. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. You will see the full price before booking, with no extras added later.

Why us?

  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited
  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • One visit for most repairs

Keeping it looking good

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Store metal items away from the bath
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Don’t scrub with anything abrasive

Care for the repair the same way as the bath: a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs. Keep scouring pads and gritty cleaners away from it.

A chip on a metal bath shouldn’t be left. Water gets to the metal and rust starts, turning a quick repair into a bigger one.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.
