Urchfont questions
Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?
Typically. Photos of the hole and the underside help us check.
How quickly can you book me in?
We will give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.
Is there any odour?
There can be some smell while we work. It fades as everything cures.
I rent my home. Can I book you?
Yes. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.
Can you repair a crack in an acrylic bath?
Most of the time. The back of the crack is strengthened before the front is filled and refinished, so we need access under the bath.
Can you fix rust around the plughole?
Yes. We take out the rust and any loose enamel, seal and fill the area, then colour-match the finish.
Are you accredited?
We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.
Can you match an avocado or pink bath?
Yes. The colour is mixed on site to suit your bath, including older coloured suites.
About our bath repair in Urchfont
Whatever has happened to the bath, we aim for the same result: a smooth, solid repair that blends in. We prepare the area properly, fill and shape it, then match the colour and gloss so it’s level with the surrounding surface. We work on cast iron enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and pressed steel enamel, and the jobs we see most are rust by the waste and overflow and scuffs and scratches in the surface.
You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we’ll come back.

The process
Visits start with a quick look at the job together. Then the area is sheeted and masked and we start. Allow a few hours, depending on the damage, and we will keep you posted as we go.
- We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
- Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
- We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
- We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
- The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.
Preparing for the visit
- Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
- Let the surface dry out before the visit
- Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Dropped items cause the majority of chips, and a lot happen during bathroom refits. Cracks in acrylic have a different cause: poor support underneath, so the bath flexes when it’s full.

What bath repair costs
Repairs from £95. You won’t pay by the hour. The price is based on:
- The size and number of damaged areas
- Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
- Where the damage is and how we get to it
- What kind of damage it is
A repair generally costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send photos and we’ll give you the exact figure.
Quotes from your photos
You can generally get a fixed quote without us visiting. To make it quick:
- Where you are, by postcode
- A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
- Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
- Any details about the material
To get a price, send two or three pictures through our quote form or call us. We will tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.
Repairs by material
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.
Pressed steel
Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.
Looking after it afterwards
Simple care helps the repair last. We recommend:
- Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
- A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
- Do not scrub with anything abrasive
- If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
In the first few days, avoid putting weight or bottles on the repair. After that, normal gentle cleaning is fine.
Until we visit, a strip of waterproof tape over the damage helps, so water can’t get in. Take it off before we arrive.
What a repair cannot fix
We will not take on work that won’t last, so these are the limits:
- A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
- Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
- Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before booking.
