Bath repair near Water

Work for landlords and builders

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, so there’s no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Water as well as householders. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it costs much less than replacing.

How we handle bath repair in Water

Bath repair is our most common job. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all fixed without removing the bath, generally in a single visit. We’re frequently asked to fix cracks in an acrylic bath and chips under the taps, in cast iron enamel, acrylic and whirlpool & spa baths.

Every job is backed for twelve months in Water and everywhere else. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.

When a repair isn’t the answer

A repair is not always the answer, and we’ll tell you before we start. Repairs will not solve:

  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

What we work on

  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is what we repair.

Common questions in Water

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Just add the extra items to your pictures and we will quote them together.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote with dates.

Can rust on a bath be repaired?

Yes. We remove the rust and loose enamel, seal and fill the area, then colour-match the finish.

When can I have a bath again?

Usually the day after. We’ll tell you the exact curing time when we finish.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Do I have to be there?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Typically, yes. The old repair comes out first, so let us know about it.

Is a cracked acrylic bath repairable?

In most cases. We reinforce the crack from behind, then fill and refinish the front, so access behind the panel is important.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including Water. What changes the price is:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Water. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

How to get a fixed price

Two or three clear photos are typically enough. It helps if you send:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • The material, if you know it
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath

No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and we’ll come back with a fixed figure.

What happens on the day

When we visit, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job normally takes two to three hours for most chips. We clean up when we’re done and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Make sure the area is dry

Getting a price

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the whole bath, add your postcode and send them over. You will get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

How to care for the repair

Most damage we see is avoidable. These habits help:

  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Rinse it down after each bath
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale

Use gentle, non-abrasive cleaners and avoid dropping heavy items on the repaired area. Get any new chip seen to quickly, before rust sets in.

Small chips are quick to repair. Left alone, they stain and can rust, so early repair saves time and money.

Repair or replace in Water?

Cast iron baths in particular are worth repairing: getting one out, particularly from an upstairs bathroom, is a big job, and replacing like for like is not cheap. Repairing it leaves it where it is. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.
