What a repair can’t fix

It helps to know what we can’t do too:

  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding

Bath repair in Westward Ho! without replacing anything

Bath repair is our most common job. Chips on the rim, rust around the waste and cracks in acrylic are all repaired in place, normally in a single visit. Whether it’s a kit repair that didn’t last and chips along the edge of the bath, we can generally put it right, on acrylic, pressed steel enamel and roll-top & freestanding alike.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re not left on your own once we have gone.

Before and after: a damaged acrylic bath corner repaired in place

How we price bath repair

Repairs from £95. There’s no charge for travel to Westward Ho!. The price depends on:

  • The material
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • The type of damage

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. You’ll see the full price before you book, with no extras added later.

How to get a fixed quote

Two or three clear photos are typically enough. Try to include:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Details of any past repairs
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Any details about the material

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, add your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Aftercare tips

To keep it looking its best:

  • Do not leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Put a towel in the bath if you are working above it

Give the repair the full curing time we recommend before running a bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.

Tape over a fresh chip or crack until it’s repaired, so water cannot get in. Remove it before the repair.

Common questions in Westward Ho!

When can you do it?

We’ll give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We carry out repairs for homeowners, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses.

Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?

Most of the time. We reinforce the crack from behind, then fill and refinish the front, so access behind the panel is important.

Can you match an avocado or pink bath?

Yes. We mix the colour on the day to match, including pastel and older colours.

Can rust on a bath be repaired?

Yes. We remove the rust and loose enamel, seal and fill the area, then colour-match the finish.

Are you accredited?

We are accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

What happens next?

We review the photos and send a fixed quote and the next dates we have.

Will the repair show?

On a glossy bath, you will struggle to find it. On worn enamel, it can look shinier than the rest.

Should you replace it?

Cast iron baths in particular are worth repairing: they’re very heavy to remove, especially upstairs, and replacing like for like is not cheap. A repair keeps it in place. Our bath repair starts from £95. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

What we do, step by step

We turn up at the time we agreed with you and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. Most visits take two to three hours for most chips, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. Once it has cured, typically by the following day, the bath is ready to use.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings

  • A cracked acrylic bath
  • A kit repair that didn’t last
  • Snagging damage from a refit
  • Chips on the rim or sides
