Materials and what they mean for the repair

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Bath repair in Wingrave without replacing anything

It pays to repair bath damage while it’s small. Exposed metal on enamelled baths soon rusts, and on acrylic, a crack keeps spreading while the bath flexes. A repair stops both. Our repair technicians work on cast iron enamel, pressed steel enamel and whirlpool & spa baths, and the jobs we see most are chips on the rim or sides and rust spots around the plughole.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you are not left on your own once we have gone.

Before and after: a chipped, rust-stained bath around the plughole

Aftercare tips

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Rinse it down after each bath
  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
  • Check that an acrylic bath doesn’t move when you stand in it
  • Have new chips seen to early

There is nothing special to do after a repair. Skip bleach and gritty creams and rinse after use.

Avoid standing in a cracked acrylic bath until it’s fixed. Each time it flexes, the crack grows, and it can start to leak underneath.

Do you need bath repair in Wingrave?

A cracked acrylic bath generally wasn’t supported properly. Legs that are not adjusted, a missing cradle or a soft floor let the base flex until the acrylic gives way.

These are the problems we are asked about most:

  • An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
  • A cracked acrylic bath
  • Rusty patches near the plughole
  • Snagging damage from a refit

Questions from Wingrave

Can rust on a bath be repaired?

Yes. We remove the rust and loose enamel, fill the area, then colour-match the finish.

Is a cracked acrylic bath repairable?

In most cases. We reinforce the crack from behind, then fill and refinish the front, so access behind the panel is important.

Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?

Generally. Send us a picture of the hole and one from under the bath if you can.

Can you price it without visiting?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.

How soon can you come?

We’ll give you dates with your quote. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.

Is there any odour?

There can be some smell while we work. It clears as the materials cure.

Can you match an avocado or pink bath?

Yes. We mix the colour on the day to match, including pastel and older colours.

Will the price change on the day?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. You decide whether to go ahead.

For landlords and businesses

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover so nothing needs replacing. We’re CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

If you manage property in Wingrave, we will quote for several properties at once. Just send photos for each address and we’ll come back with a combined price.

Why repair rather than replace?

Cast iron baths especially are worth keeping: they’re very heavy to remove, especially upstairs, and replacing like for like isn’t cheap. A repair keeps it in place. Our bath repair starts from £95. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. The full price is agreed before you book, with nothing added on the day.

How the visit works

When we visit, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job normally takes a morning or an afternoon. We clean up when we are done and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. Once it has cured, normally by the day after, the bath is ready to use.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. There is no area surcharge for Wingrave. The price reflects:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • The type of damage
  • The material

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there is no premium for Wingrave. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Quotes from your pictures

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • A picture taken from further back
  • Details of any past repairs
  • Any details about the material

We price from pictures so you do not have to wait in for a survey. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and we will come back with a fixed figure.

When we’d advise against a repair

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair won’t do:

  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
  • A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.
