How we handle bath repair in Wolverton

Whether your bath is steel, cast iron or acrylic, we can repair it. Each material is repaired a little differently: metal baths need any rust dealt with first, and acrylic cracks need support from behind. Our repair technicians work on pressed steel enamel, roll-top & freestanding and cast iron enamel, and the jobs we see most are impact holes in acrylic and cracks in an acrylic bath.

Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee in Wolverton and across Northamptonshire.

Rusty chip next to a bath plughole, before and after repair

Work for landlords and builders

If you manage property in Wolverton, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send photos for each address and we’ll price them together.

Letting agents often send us photos straight from the inventory. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

What we can’t put right

We’d rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly.

What we work on

  • Acrylic
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Whirlpool & spa baths

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. There’s no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Looking after it afterwards

A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:

  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
  • Check that an acrylic bath does not move when you stand in it
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Do not leave razors or cans standing in the bath

Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before using the bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.

Tape over a fresh chip or crack until it’s repaired, so water cannot get in. Take it off before we arrive.

DIY kit or professional repair?

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

How the visit works

From the moment we arrive, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. We mask off everything nearby, the work takes two to three hours for most chips, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
  5. Once it has cured, generally by the next day, the bath is ready to use.

Advice

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. You won’t pay by the hour. The price depends on:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • The material
  • The colour and finish to match
  • How many items we do on one visit

We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Quotes from your pictures

Photographing the damage takes a minute, and it saves a visit. Please include:

  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • Any details about the material
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

Upload photos of the damage and one of the whole item, and tell us you are in Wolverton, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.
