Bath repair at your home in Yardley Wood

Whatever the damage, the aim is the same: a smooth, solid repair that blends in. We prepare the area properly, fill and shape it, then match the colour and gloss so it’s level with the surrounding surface. We work on cast iron enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and pressed steel enamel, and people most often call us about rusty patches near the plughole and chips on the rim or sides.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Yardley Wood questions

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send photos of everything you’d like done.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Just ensure the landlord agrees.

Is my repair covered?

All our work carries our one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?

Generally, yes, if we can reach behind it. The hole is backed, filled and refinished to match.

Can you match an avocado or pink bath?

Yes, coloured baths are no problem. The colour is tinted by hand on the day.

How soon can you come?

That depends on our diary for your area. We’ll offer you dates when we send your quote.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.

Do you come to Yardley Wood?

Yes, we do. We send a technician to Yardley Wood for every job, with no extra charge for travel.

Work for landlords and builders

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Yardley Wood as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it generally costs far less than a refit.

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, putting right damage done during fitting so nothing needs replacing. We’re CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. They don’t rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Exposed steel rusts fast, particularly by the plughole, so repair chips early.

Why repair rather than replace?

Cast iron baths in particular are worth repairing: getting one out, particularly from an upstairs bathroom, is a big job, and a like-for-like replacement can be expensive. Repairing it leaves it where it is. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is normally a fraction of the price, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

Why us?

  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • One visit for most repairs
  • Nothing taken out or refitted

What happens on the day

We agree an arrival time beforehand. Once we’re there, the work takes a few hours. The room is left tidy.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. Once it has cured, normally by the following day, the bath is ready to use.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Open a window if you can

Ask for a price

We price from pictures so you do not have to wait in for a survey. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and we’ll come back with a fixed figure.

Keeping it looking good

To keep it looking its best:

  • Rinse it down after each bath
  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
  • Put a towel in the bath if you are working above it

Keep metal objects like razors and cans off the surface, because they can mark the enamel. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.

Avoid standing in a cracked acrylic bath until it’s fixed. Every use opens the crack a little more, and it can start to leak underneath.
