Bath repair in Ynyswen without replacing anything

Bath repair is our most common job. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all repaired in place, usually in a single visit. We are frequently asked to fix a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting and holes from dropped items, in acrylic, cast iron enamel and pressed steel enamel.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

How to care for the repair

So the finish stays in good condition:

  • Check that an acrylic bath does not move when you stand in it
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
  • Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby

In the first few days, avoid putting weight or bottles on the repair. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath without abrasive products.

If water is getting through a crack, stop using the bath. Leaks under a bath can damage floors and ceilings.

What a repair can’t fix

In fairness, some problems need a different fix:

  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
  • A steel bath rusted through
  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

Materials we repair

  • Acrylic
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Landlord and trade work in Ynyswen

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

Ynyswen: your questions answered

Do you come to Ynyswen?

Yes, we do. We send a technician to Ynyswen for every job, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

Can rust on a bath be repaired?

Yes, it’s one of the most common repairs we do. We take it back to sound metal, seal it, fill it and match the colour.

How long before I can use the bath?

Most baths can be used the following day. We confirm the time before we leave.

Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?

Typically, yes, if we can reach behind it. The hole is backed, filled and refinished to match.

Can you repair a failed DIY repair?

Regularly. The old material comes out, any rust is treated, then we repair it properly.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

We are happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just make sure the landlord agrees.

Can you price it without visiting?

Typically, yes. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed quote without visiting.

Will you leave a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. They don’t rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.

What affects the price in Ynyswen

Prices start from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How many areas need work
  • The material
  • How many items we do on one visit

A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you’ll get a fixed figure.

How to get a fixed quote

We price nearly every job from pictures. This is what to send:

  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us photos through the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can give you a fixed quote without visiting.

Should you replace it?

Swapping a damaged bath for a new one typically means a plumber, removing the old bath, making good the tiles and panel and disposing of the old one. A repair fixes just the damaged area in a single visit. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the whole job up front. Damage, material and access decide it.

What we do, step by step

Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you are not left guessing. Once we are there, the work takes a morning or an afternoon for most jobs. We leave the room clean and you will know when it can be used.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

How to get a price

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, add your postcode and send them over. You will get a fixed quote, not an estimate.
