Bath repair near Mountain Ash

Bath repair in Mountain Ash without replacing anything

We repair enamelled steel, cast iron and acrylic baths. The method changes with the material: metal baths need any rust dealt with first, and acrylic cracks need support from behind. Common call-outs are for holes from dropped items and an old repair that has yellowed or come loose, across roll-top & freestanding, pressed steel enamel and whirlpool & spa baths.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you live. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Bath enamel chip by the waste, filled and colour matched (before and after)

When to call us in Mountain Ash

A bath gets knocked about more than you’d think: bottles, shower heads and razors are dropped every day, and fittings press hard against the enamel. Sooner or later, most baths pick up a chip.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • A chipped rim or side
  • Rust by the waste and overflow
  • Chips under the taps
  • Impact holes in acrylic

What your quote should include

  • What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price

Mountain Ash questions

Can you price it without visiting?

Nearly always. If photos don’t show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

Will it make a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

In most cases. We remove the old repair before doing a new one.

How do I get a price for bath repair in Mountain Ash?

Prices start from £95. The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from photos. You’ll get a fixed figure before booking.

Is there a call-out fee?

No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Is a bath repair durable?

It should, as long as the bath is firm and the area was prepared well. It’s covered by our one-year guarantee.

Is there a guarantee?

All our work carries our one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

Repair or replace in Mountain Ash?

Swapping a damaged bath for a new one normally involves a plumber, lifting out the old bath, making good the tiles and panel and getting rid of the old bath. A repair deals only with the damage in a single visit. Prices start from £95. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Why book with us

  • We leave the room as we found it
  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited
  • Everything repaired in place

DIY repairs versus a professional job

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

For landlords and businesses

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, photos and access details and we’ll arrange it.

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, putting right damage done during fitting so nothing needs replacing. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

The process

We turn up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and looks over the damage before anything else. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before any work starts. The work itself takes two to three hours for most chips, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased, and any rust is treated.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the day after.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings

Ask for a price

For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

Related advice

How we price bath repair

Prices start from £95. You’ll know the full cost before you book. We take into account:

  • What the surface is made of
  • How much damage there is
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Whether we combine several jobs

Compared with replacing, a repair is generally a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

How to get a fixed price

Two or three clear pictures are generally enough. Try to include:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • What it’s made of, if you know

We price from photos so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through.

When a repair is not the answer

Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, including:

  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.
