Bath resealing in Abergwyngregyn, done in place

All of the old sealant is cut out, deal with any mould, and apply fresh mould-resistant silicone. We reseal baths, showers, sinks and worktops, and that includes the awkward spots behind the taps. Whether it’s mould you can’t clean out and gaps in the seal, we can usually put it right, on kitchen worktops & sinks, basins & vanity units and wet rooms alike.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there is a problem and we’ll sort it.

The process

When we visit, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. Expect it to take about two hours for a bath. We clean up when we are done and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. The old silicone is cut out completely.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

Advice

Prices and what affects them

We charge the same across the UK, including Abergwyngregyn. What changes the price is:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • The size and number of damaged areas

Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Quotes from your pictures

Before you send photos, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A photo taken from further back
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Where you are, by postcode

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the entire bath or shower, add your postcode and send them over. You will get a fixed price, not an estimate.

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, once the joint is completely dry.

When to call us in Abergwyngregyn

In time, even good sealant discolours, especially in a busy family bathroom. Steam, soap and movement all take their toll.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • Mould you can’t clean out
  • Water getting behind the bath or tray
  • Unsealed corners
  • Sealant that is split or lifting

What your quote should include

  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • What prep work is covered
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the pictures show

How to compare quotes

What a repair can’t fix

To be straight with you, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:

  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder
  • Hollow or loose tiles
  • Movement in the bath or tray

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Abergwyngregyn: your questions answered

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it isn’t worth repairing, we will tell you.

Do you work in Abergwyngregyn?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and come to Abergwyngregyn and the rest of Conwy. Send pictures and we will quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Why does my sealant keep splitting?

Typically because the bath or tray moves, or it was sealed with the bath empty. We fill the bath before sealing it.

What happens next?

You’ll get a fixed quote back. You are under no obligation.

Do the materials smell?

It depends on the job, but frequently a little. Open windows and an extractor fan help, and it soon fades.

Is the work guaranteed?

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. We’ll explain what it covers when we quote.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as homeowners across Conwy.

When can you do it?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send pictures with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Abergwyngregyn

For anyone letting property in or around Abergwyngregyn, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send pictures for each address and we will come back with a combined price.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.
