Bath resealing for Alderholt homes

Can I fix it myself?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

How we handle bath resealing in Alderholt

Baths, trays, basins and kitchen worktops all get resealed using mould-resistant silicone. Most jobs take a couple of hours. Whether it’s leaks at the edges and black mould in the sealant, we can help, whatever the material.

Every job is backed for twelve months in Alderholt and everywhere else. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

The process

You don’t need to empty the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and start once you are happy with the plan. Most jobs take around two hours, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. We cut out and remove all of the old sealant.
  2. We clean the joint and treat any mould.
  3. We dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. For a bath, we fill it with water first so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We apply new mould-resistant silicone and tool it to a neat finish, taps included.

Before we arrive

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

Looking after it afterwards

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Replace the seal when mould sets in
  • Let steam out after showers
  • Do not stand toiletries on the seal
  • Give the seal a regular clean

Do not scrape the sealant with anything sharp, and keep shampoo bottles off the joints.

If you notice damp, stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles, act quickly. It may be more than a reseal, and we will say if you need a builder or plumber.

When to call us in Alderholt

Sealant does not last forever. Every bath or shower adds moisture and soap residue, which mould loves, and the joint flexes each time the bath fills.

Get in touch if you’ve noticed:

  • Stained silicone
  • A messy previous reseal
  • Silicone coming away from the tiles
  • Black mould in the sealant

Questions to ask before booking

  • What happens if they find more damage
  • Who turns up on the day
  • What preparation is included
  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers

We charge the same across the UK, including Alderholt. The price reflects:

How to get a fixed price

Phone photos are fine. Ensure they show:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates

When we’d advise against a repair
