Trusted bath resealing in Alvanley

About our bath resealing in Alvanley

We reseal baths with them filled with water, so the joint is at its widest, so the seal doesn’t tear when the bath is first used. We work on baths, basins & vanity units and kitchen worktops & sinks, and people most often call us about a messy previous reseal and black spots in the silicone.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard.

FAQs for Alvanley

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

We come back with a fixed quote, usually with dates to choose from. There is no obligation to book.

Will it make a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we have finished.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit generally costs less than separate visits. Include photos of each item.

Do you charge for travel?

Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it isn’t worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

Why does mould come back so fast?

Mould needs moisture. Ventilation and drying keep it clean longer.

Does someone need to be in?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You do not need to watch us work.

How long does resealing take?

Most reseals take about two hours. Leave it to cure before use.

What bath resealing costs

Every quote is fixed and free. What we look at:

  • How many areas need work
  • The type of damage
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Access to the area

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Send pictures for a quote

Two or three clear pictures are normally enough. Try to include:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A picture taken from further back
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the entire bath or shower, add your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

When we would advise against a repair

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath
  • Hollow or loose tiles
  • Very wide gaps that need a trim

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly.

Materials we repair

  • Wet rooms
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Baths

Repairs by material

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, once the joint is completely dry.

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, to open the joint fully.

The process

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and start once you’re happy with the plan. It normally takes a couple of hours, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. We cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. The bath is filled with water, or weight put on the tray.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

Preparing for the visit

  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Alvanley use us as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it usually costs far less than a refit.

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.
