Bath resealing for Badminton homes

Bath resealing in Badminton, done in place

A good reseal is all about preparation: old silicone removed, mould treated, the joint cleaned and dried. Only then does the new sealant go on, in a neat, continuous bead. Our repair technicians work on basins & vanity units, wet rooms and shower trays & enclosures, and people most frequently call us about sealant that’s split or lifting and stained silicone.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee.

For landlords and businesses

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover so nothing needs replacing. We are CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Resealing in Badminton: why it matters

Resealing is a small job. Putting off a reseal can let water reach the walls and floor, which costs far more to put right. Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is normally a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

Why us?

Different materials, different repairs

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, to open the joint fully.

The process

The work is clean and fairly quiet. We protect the area first, then the job itself takes a couple of hours. Before we leave, we explain how soon it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. We cut out and remove all of the old sealant.
  2. Next we clean the joint and deal with mould.
  3. We ensure the joint is completely dry.
  4. Baths are filled with water first, so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We apply new mould-resistant silicone and tool it to a neat finish, including around the taps.

How to prepare

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

What bath resealing costs

A fixed quote means you know the cost before booking. We take into account:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • The type of damage

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.

Send pictures for a quote

Two or three clear pictures are typically enough. It helps if you send:

  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • The material, if you know it

Most clients in Badminton get their price from pictures. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Aftercare tips

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Open a window after bathing
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Dry the seal after bathing
  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly

Do not scrape the sealant with anything sharp, and keep shampoo bottles off the joints.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

Badminton questions

Can you reseal over the old silicone?

We always remove the old sealant completely. New silicone won’t bond to old.

My seal keeps tearing. Why?

The bath or tray is probably flexing. If it keeps happening, the support may need fixing.

Can tenants book a repair?

Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

How long does resealing take?

Most reseals take about two hours. It then needs time to cure.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Most of the time. Tell us what was done before.

When can you do it?

We will give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

What does bath resealing cost?

Because every job differs, we price from photos. You’ll get a fixed figure before you book.

What information do you need?

Send photos through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787.

Honest limits

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Very wide gaps that need a trim
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.
