How it works
When we visit, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. The job generally takes around two hours. We clean up when we are done and tell you when it’s ready to use.
- We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
- Old sealant and residue are removed.
- We clean, treat and dry the joint.
- Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
- The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.
Preparing for the visit

- Let the surface dry out before the visit

Advice
Bath resealing in Pen-y-bont without replacing anything
Resealing is one of the simplest ways to protect your bathroom. Failed sealant lets water get where it shouldn’t, and resealing puts a stop to that. If you are dealing with black spots in the silicone and an untidy old seal, we can normally put it right, on kitchen worktops & sinks, basins & vanity units and shower trays & enclosures alike.
We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you are not left on your own once we have gone.

What we’re called out for in Pen-y-bont
Poor ventilation speeds things up: moisture sits on the joints longer, and mould grows faster.
Clients generally contact us about:
- Old sealant that looks dirty
- Sealant that’s split or lifting
- Unsealed corners
- An untidy old seal
What your quote should include
- How soon you can use it again
- Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
- Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
- Whether a trained technician does the job
Different materials, different repairs
Baths
Baths are resealed with water in them, to open the joint fully.
Shower trays
Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.
Why reseal now?
Resealing is a small job. Leaving split or mouldy sealant can let water reach the walls and floor, and that damage costs much more to fix. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you’ll get a fixed figure.
Why book with us
- No need to remove anything
- One visit for most repairs
- A fixed quote before booking
- Rooms protected and left tidy

What else we do in Pen-y-bont
Work for landlords and builders
We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Pen-y-bont as well as householders. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it usually costs far less than a refit.

How we price bath resealing
Prices are worked out job by job. What matters most is:
- Access to the area
- The size and number of damaged areas
- Unusual colours or finishes
- What the surface is made of
A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. The full price is agreed before booking.
How to get a fixed price
The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what helps:
- One sharp close-up of the damage
- Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
- Where you are, by postcode
- A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath or shower, add your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.
Honest limits
In fairness, there are a few things a repair will not fix:
- Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder
- Movement in the bath or tray
- Hollow or loose tiles
Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

FAQs for Pen-y-bont
Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?
Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before.
Will the price change on the day?
It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. The price only changes if you agree.
Is there a guarantee?
All our work carries a one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.
Why does the silicone keep cracking?
Movement is the usual cause. We fill the bath before sealing it.
Is repairing better than replacing?
Usually, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.
Do you seal over the old sealant?
All the old sealant comes out. New silicone won’t bond to old.
Are you a vetted contractor?
Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.
What do you need from me?
Send photos through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we’ll do the rest.
Aftercare tips
Once the work has cured, treat it gently:
- Clean the sealant gently and regularly
- Wipe the joints dry after use
- Reseal at the first sign of lifting
- Store bottles on a shelf
Do not scrape the sealant with anything sharp, and do not stand bottles on the seal.
Do not wait until water gets behind the bath. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.
