Bath resealing in Barrow

Different materials, different repairs

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, so the joint is at its widest.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, once the joint is completely dry.

Bath resealing in Barrow, done in place

We cut out all of the old sealant, treat any mould, and apply fresh mould-resistant silicone. We do this for baths, showers, sinks and worktops, including the awkward bits behind the taps. We regularly repair kitchen worktops & sinks, wet rooms and baths, and common reasons people contact us are gaps by the taps and a messy previous reseal.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we’ll sort it.

How it works

We turn up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. The work itself takes around two hours, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. First we strip out every bit of the old mastic.
  2. The joint is cleaned and any mould treated.
  3. We dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. For a bath, we fill it with water first so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We apply new mould-resistant silicone and tool it to a neat finish, including around the taps.

Preparing for the visit

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Make sure the area is dry

What affects the price in Barrow

There’s no area surcharge for Barrow. The price reflects:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • How much damage there is
  • The material

We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

How to get a fixed quote

You can take the pictures on your phone. Make sure they show:

  • A picture taken from further back
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

The quickest way to a price is to send two or three photos using our quote form or call us. We’ll say immediately if a repair is the right fix.

Your questions about bath resealing in Barrow

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Yes, we often do. Removing the old work can add time, and that is in the quote.

Can landlords book you?

We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

Can you reseal over the old silicone?

We always remove the old sealant completely. New silicone will not bond to old.

Do you cover the entire of Somerset?

Everywhere in the UK, Barrow included. There is no extra charge for travel.

How long does a reseal take?

Around two hours for a bath, plus curing time.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Just add the extra items to your pictures and we’ll quote them together.

Is there any odour?

There can be some smell while we work, which is why we ventilate. It clears as the materials cure.

Aftercare tips

Most damage we see is avoidable. These habits help:

  • Reseal when black spots won’t clean off
  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Air the room after use
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner

Run the extractor fan, dry the joints after bathing, and give them a regular clean with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem, it’s a sign moisture is sitting in the joint. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.

Is resealing worth it?

Resealing is a small job. Leaving split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, and that damage costs much more to fix. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

What you get with us

  • Everything repaired in place
  • We’ll tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • Technicians who travel to you, UK-wide
  • We leave the room as we found it

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

Do you need bath resealing in Barrow?

Poor ventilation speeds things up: damp hangs around, and mould grows faster.

You may need us if you’ve spotted:

  • Missing sealant behind the taps
  • A messy previous reseal
  • Sealant that is split or lifting
  • Water getting behind the bath or tray

Questions to ask before booking

10 questions to ask before you book

When a repair is not the answer

Not everything can be repaired, and we would rather say so up front. We can’t fix:

  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed
  • Hidden water damage
  • Very wide gaps that need a trim

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before booking.
