Bath resealing in Beechdale

Prices and what affects them

There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • The material and finish
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

How to get a fixed price

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. Try to include:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • One picture of the entire bath or shower

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the entire bath or shower, include your postcode and send them to us. You will get a fixed price, not an estimate.

How we handle bath resealing in Beechdale

We cut out all of the old sealant, deal with any mould, and apply fresh mould-resistant silicone. We reseal baths, showers, sinks and worktops, including the awkward bits behind the taps. We work on baths, shower trays & enclosures and kitchen worktops & sinks, and common reasons people get in touch are damp near the bath and silicone coming away from the tiles.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything is not right, ring us and we will sort it.

Landlord and trade work in Beechdale

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access.

If you manage property in Beechdale, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Send pictures for each one and we will come back with a combined price.

How the visit works

Your technician turns up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and checks the damage against your photos first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. Most visits take around two hours, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. We cut out and remove all of the old sealant.
  2. We clean the joint and treat any mould.
  3. The joint is dried thoroughly.
  4. We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, including around the taps.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Clear the area around the damage

DIY kit or professional repair?

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

Signs you need bath resealing in Beechdale

No sealant lasts for ever. Every bath or shower adds moisture and soap residue, which mould feeds on, and the joint moves slightly every time the bath is filled.

The most common problems we’re called about are:

  • Sealant that’s split or lifting
  • An untidy old seal
  • Damp near the bath
  • Missing sealant behind the taps

10 questions to ask before booking

Beechdale: your questions answered

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes: twelve months. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Are you accredited?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

How soon can you come?

Your quote comes with available dates. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.

Can tenants book a repair?

Yes. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

Will you leave a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.

Do I need to be at home?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. After that, you can carry on with your day.

Which areas do you work in?

Everywhere in the UK, Beechdale included. Travel is included in the price.

Do the materials smell?

It depends on the job, but frequently a little. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum.

Is resealing worth it?

Putting new silicone over old does not last. It soon peels, and traps mould underneath. A proper reseal removes the old first. A repair normally costs much less than people expect, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send pictures and we’ll give you the exact figure.

Why us?

  • One visit for most repairs
  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • No extra charge for your area
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job

Looking after it afterwards

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Use the extractor fan
  • Open a window after bathing
  • Do not stand toiletries on the seal
  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting

Leave the sealant to cure for the time we give you, generally around 24 hours.

Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. It may be more than a reseal, and we will say if you need a builder or plumber.

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, so the joint is at its widest.
