About bath repair in NG8
Repairing baths is what we do most. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all fixed without removing the bath, normally in one visit. Typical jobs include damage beneath the taps and a cracked acrylic bath, in pressed steel enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and roll-top & freestanding.
Visits start with a quick look at the job together. After that, protection goes down around the work area and we start. It normally takes two to three hours for most chips, and we will keep you posted as we go.
- We protect the bath and the floor around it.
- We clean, key and degrease the damage.
- Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
- Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
- We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the day after.
Cost
Prices start from £95. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before booking.
Why choose Surface Doctor
- One price list for the entire UK
- Colour mixed on the day to match
- CHAS and Constructionline accredited
- No need to remove anything
How to get a price
For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.
Near you in Wollaton
Locally, our jobs take us to homes close to Fernwood Primary School, Hemlock Stone pub and Fernwood School and the streets around them. Wollaton’s nearest station is Beeston station, roughly 2.3 miles south-east. Nearby you will also find Queen's Medical Centre (2.1 miles east) and intu Broadmarsh (3.6 miles east). Open spaces near Wollaton include Attenborough Nature Reserve and Wilford Hill.
Prices and what affects them
Prices start from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including NG8. What changes the price is:
- Whether we combine several jobs
- Where the damage is and how we get to it
- Unusual colours or finishes
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for NG8. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.
How to get a fixed quote
Two or three clear pictures are generally enough. It helps if you send:
- What it’s made of, if you know
- Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
- Where you are, by postcode
- A clear, close picture of the problem area
A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the whole bath, include your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.
Aftercare tips
To keep it looking its best:
- Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
- Have new chips seen to early
- Check that an acrylic bath does not move when you stand in it
- Store metal items away from the bath
Give the repair the full curing time we recommend before using the bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.
If water is getting through a crack, stop using the bath until it’s repaired. Leaks under a bath can damage floors and ceilings.
Common problems we fix in NG8
Damage during fitting is very common. Tools, tiles and fittings get dropped into the bath, often before anyone notices. Snagging repairs like these are a regular job for us.
Look out for any of the following:
- A failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting
- Damage beneath the taps
- Chips on the rim or sides
- Scuffs and scratches in the surface
Should you replace it?
For damage in one or two places, a repair is the obvious choice. It costs far less than a new bath plus fitting, it’s done in one visit, and nothing else in the room changes.
Comparing quotes
- Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
- Whether they match the colour on site
- The length of the guarantee and what it covers
- When it can be used again
For landlords and businesses
For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, so there is no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. Several plots can be done in one visit.
We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.
FAQs for NG8
Do you cover the entire of Nottingham?
The entire UK, including all of Nottingham. Send your postcode with your pictures and we will offer you dates.
Can I get a quote without a visit?
Generally, yes. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed price without visiting.

Is a repair better than a new one?
Normally, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.
Do you do work for letting agents?
Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as homeowners across Nottingham.
Can you redo someone else’s repair?
