Bath resealing for Begeli homes

How the visit works

On the day, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. Expect it to take about two hours for a bath. We clean up when we’re done and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. We cut out and remove all of the old sealant.
  2. We clean the joint and treat any mould.
  3. We make sure the joint is completely dry.
  4. Baths are filled with water first, so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, including around the taps.

Preparing for the visit

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Open a window if you can
  • Ensure the area is dry

How we handle bath resealing in Begeli

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint opens fully, which stops the new seal tearing the first time the bath is used. We regularly repair kitchen worktops & sinks, shower trays & enclosures and baths, and common reasons people contact us are silicone smeared on tiles and discoloured, yellow sealant.

Whatever the size of the job, you get the same one-year guarantee in Begeli and across Pembrokeshire.

When a repair is not the answer

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair will not do:

  • Hollow or loose tiles
  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing
  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Baths

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, once the joint is completely dry.

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, to open the joint fully.

Work for landlords and builders

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Pembrokeshire and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

Letting agents often send us photos straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

Signs you need bath resealing in Begeli

Joints split if the bath or tray moves, often because it was sealed with the bath empty.

These are the problems we are asked about most:

  • Missing sealant behind the taps
  • Mould you cannot clean out
  • Stained silicone
  • A messy previous reseal

10 questions to ask before you book

Is resealing worth it?

Putting new silicone over old doesn’t last. It peels within weeks, and mould stays trapped behind it. A proper reseal removes the old first. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. You’ll see the full price before you book, with nothing added on the day.

Keeping it looking good

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Air the room after use
  • Keep bottles off the joints

Let it cure fully before using the bath or shower, generally around 24 hours.

Black mould in sealant is not just unsightly. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.

Questions from Begeli

Will it make a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.

How long will it take?

Most reseals take about two hours. It then needs time to cure.

When can I use the bath after resealing?

We will give you the curing time, usually around a day.

Why does my sealant keep going mouldy?

Mould needs moisture. Ventilation and drying keep it clean longer.

Can you quote from photos?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Which areas do you work in?

We cover the entire UK, including Begeli and the rest of Pembrokeshire. Just include your postcode and we’ll offer you dates.

Do you seal over the old sealant?

Never over old. The old sealant is cut out and the joint cleaned and dried.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.
