Bath resealing near Blackhall

Bath resealing in Blackhall, done in place

All of the old sealant is cut out, treat any mould, and apply fresh mould-resistant silicone. We do this for baths, showers, sinks and worktops, including the awkward bits behind the taps. Our repair technicians work on basins & vanity units, shower trays & enclosures and wet rooms, and people most often call us about gaps in the seal and black mould in the sealant.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything is not right, ring us and we will come back.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, once the joint is completely dry.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

How it works

We begin by going over the job with you, so there are no surprises. Then the area is sheeted and masked and the work begins. It normally takes a couple of hours, and we’ll keep you posted as we go.

  1. We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
  2. Old sealant and residue are removed.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

What we’re called out for in Blackhall

Sealant splits when the bath or tray moves, often because it was sealed while the bath was empty.

Keep an eye out for these signs:

  • Black mould in the sealant
  • A messy previous reseal
  • Unsealed corners
  • Water getting behind the bath or tray

What your quote should include

  • Whether the price covers travel
  • Who turns up on the day
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • How the room is protected while they work

FAQs for Blackhall

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we’re working in. We’ll tell you when the room can be used again.

Will the price change on the day?

The price is fixed for what the photos show. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

How long does silicone take to cure?

Normally about a day later. We’ll tell you the exact time.

How long will it take?

Typically a couple of hours, plus curing time.

Will it make a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Most of the time. Tell us what was done before.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

Is resealing worth it?

Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It peels within weeks, and mould stays trapped behind it. A proper reseal removes the old first. We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Blackhall. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

What you get with us

  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • Fixed prices from your photos
  • Normally one visit, start to finish
  • No need to remove anything

Keeping it looking good

Nothing complicated is needed:

  • Air the room after use
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Store bottles on a shelf

Avoid scraping the joints, and don’t stand bottles on the seal.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem; it shows moisture is getting in. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.

What affects the price in Blackhall

A fixed quote means you know the cost before you book. We look at:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • The type of damage
  • What the surface is made of

A repair typically costs much less than people expect, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

How to get a fixed quote

We price nearly every job from pictures. This is what we need:

  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath or shower
  • Any details about the material

No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through.
