About our bath resealing in Blackwater

Preparation is everything in a reseal: every bit of old silicone out, mould treated, the joint clean and dry. Then the fresh sealant goes on, as one neat, continuous bead. Our technicians work on kitchen worktops & sinks, wet rooms and basins & vanity units, and the jobs we see most are a messy previous reseal and discoloured, yellow sealant.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we explain what it covers before booking.

The process

On the day, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job generally takes around two hours. We clean up when we’re done and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. First we strip out every bit of the old mastic.
  2. The joint is cleaned and any mould treated.
  3. We dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
  5. We apply new mould-resistant silicone and tool it to a neat finish, taps included.

How to prepare

  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

When to call us in Blackwater

Sealant does not last forever. Every bath or shower adds moisture and soap residue, which mould loves, and the joint moves slightly every time the bath is filled.

People generally call us after spotting one of these:

  • Black mould in the sealant
  • An untidy old seal
  • Sealant that’s split or lifting
  • Unsealed corners

Our hiring checklist

How we price bath resealing

We charge the same across the UK, including Blackwater. The price reflects:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • What the surface is made of
  • How easy the damage is to reach

Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it.

How to get a fixed price

Good photos mean an accurate price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • Details of any past repairs
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A photo taken from further back

The quickest way to a price is to send two or three pictures using our quote form or call us. We will tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.

Resealing in Blackwater: why it matters

Resealing is routine maintenance. Putting off a reseal lets water get behind the bath or tray, which costs far more to put right. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Why us?

  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • We leave the room as we found it
  • One-year guarantee on every repair

Work for landlords and builders

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

What we can’t put right

Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, including:

  • Movement in the bath or tray
  • Hollow or loose tiles
  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Wet rooms
  • Basins & vanity units

Should I try a DIY kit first?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

Common questions in Blackwater

How long does silicone take to cure?

Normally about a day later. We’ll tell you the exact time.

Will it make a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.

How do I book?

Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787, and we’ll take it from there.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the photos can’t show what we need.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Typically, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Usually, yes. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so mention it when you send pictures.

Can new silicone go over old?

We always remove the old sealant completely. Fresh silicone does not stick to old.

Why does the silicone keep cracking?

Generally because the bath or tray moves, or it was sealed with the bath empty. We fill the bath before sealing it.
